just wanted to know if anyone knows a good way to determine the optimal ratio of protein, carbs, and fat for each individual? IP: Logged |

You should consume around one gram of protein for every pound you weigh. Lets say you weigh 150 then you need to ingest 150 grams of protein a day which will be 600 calories of protein (1 gram of protein equals 4 calories). This would be around 25% of your 2400 caloric intake. Total fat intake can vary from 30 grams to 60 grams a day. Just make sure it is not saturated fat. 30 grams of fat intake would be around 270 calories a day of this. (1 gram equals 9 calories) The remaining caloric intake of 1530 can be carbs this would be around 382 grams of carbs (1 gram equals 4 calories). Try to consume low glycemic carbs to help spread out the energy level from these. IP: Logged |

I've wished for the same thing myself, but i don't think there is any way for you to tell what a best ratio would be. Generally Speaking, however, if you are chubby and/or if the is a history of diabetes in your family, you should cut your carbs. But ultimately, you'll just have to experiment and be very methodical about keeping records. IP: Logged |
