Ok i am 18 and i am really obsessed with my looks.I am 5-10 and weigh 147 pounds, my waist is 27 inches and my arms are 13 inches, thighs are 21.5 inches and calves are 14 inches, i have a v shaped torso, my shoulders are wider than most 200 pounders if you can believe it. anyways i took a body fat test on the net that goes by your weight, wrist size, and your waist and it said i had only 3.5 percent bodyfat.i then see bodybuilders with body fat pecentages like that and they have more defenition than i have, i want to know what can be covering up my muscles if i dont have much fat, also on the skin test i pinched and could only get like a fifth of an inch of overlapped skin which is the fat part so i guess i must really be down there in fat percentage, anyways i was a really fat kid my whole life and one day decided to make a change, i had muscle but there was tons of fat also, i had about 11 percent before weightloss, but looked chubby due to my the waist size of 34.anyways i lost 40 pounds in the summer of 98 and have somehow stayed at exactly 146-150 ever since, the highest was at 150. now i am wondering how i can get rid of some of the leftover skin from the weight loss, actually i am kinda afraid of losing it because if i lose too much skin no telling how small i will be, anyways i dont want to be huge, i want to be like a lightweight bodybuilder because i also play sports alot,no profesional sports but i play alot with friends, i run, play basketball, football, ect the sports that require speed to be good at, anyways i run a 4.45 forty so i dont want to lose any speed and i have a 30 inch vertical which is pretty good for a white guy, anyways here is how my day usually goes exercise average 5 miles walked a day i do crunches 25 minutes per workout the same amount except i do them on non weightlifting days i also a couple times a week do aerobics about 20-30 minutes each time i figures up that i burn an average of 3500 calories a day on weekdays on saturday and sunday i do less walking, running and jogging and more basketball, i only average about 6 miles a day on weekends but play about 3 hours of basketball a day on weekends, i love basketball. I burn about the same amount of calories on weekend days
as for nutrition, i eat an average of 2000 calories a day divided up into 5-6 meals, the nutrition percentages are 30% protein,55% carbs and 15% fats.i eat alot of fiber probably three or four times more than the average health person, i drink an average of 150 ounces of water, my downfall is coffee, i dont know what effect it has on fat loss or gain but i drink a pot a day. i eat these foods about every single day chicken with no crust, rotesire style
i take fat burners but have no idea if they are the kind you all take, i also take saint johns wort, and also a ultra vitamin, anyways i think i get too many vitamins due to the vitamin, and all the cereal, is there any effects of too much vitamins?
also if anyone can tell me how to get rid of skin not fat but skin that covers some muslce let me know, and remember i am any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks IP: Logged |

Oh my god...I don't see how you could possibly be working that much and not overtraining! With that much effort and only consuming 2000 calories a day? Are you sure you aren't catabolizing your muscles? Anyways...if you think that works for you, then great...everybody's body is different I guess...holy crap.... Anyways, to answer your question...its not excess skin...if your still relatively young, then your skin should still be very elastic...if anything, with as much work as you do, I'd think the only thing keeping you from looking how you want is a false 3.5% BF reading, which is probably more than true, or your holding quite a bit of subcutaneous water... I'd say take a water pill, but that's stupid...you might just want to try supplementing a little extra potassium and try and pull the subcutaneous water, into the muscles...(if that's even the solution)...cut down on your sodium intake as well...I'd really have to say though, that your body is probably eating your muscles and keeping the small stores of adipose tissue it has left...I'd really relook at that diet... In all honesty, I'd have to say, cut down on the amount of work and seriously up those calories...with as much work as you do and as little as you take in, you might have kicked yourself into starvation mode... And if you want a real (quasi/semi) real BF test, goto a doctor and get one done, or invest in a pair of calipers...I seriously doubt your 3.5% (I'm not saying your not thin, I just doubt that an internet site could possibly tell you what your BF% is). Good luck...and keep in mind I am far from knowledgeable... Tim IP: Logged |

what exactly is catabolizing your muscles mean? i am fairly strong i can bench 225 and i am 147, and can squat 390 pounds, i am actually as strong or stronger than most people i know 50-70 pounds bigger than me.i would like to know how i can just make gains on my arms, chest, lats, back, and legs and keep the same waist size, i know 27 is not much but i would feel and look better with a bigger chest and shoulders and the same waist, i already have a v shape, also what kinda diet would i need to burn the stored glycoman? i tried atkins but it made my blood pressure go skyhigh,it went up to 150-100! i am normally 75-50 or so.
http://top.monad.net/~vsi/java/mbf/mbf_calc.html let me know the differences

You need to eat, eat, eat, and eat some more. Lots of protein, lots of carbs. You're 18, so you should be a testosterone factory, and it's obvious you've got alot of energy from all the work you're doing. Cut way back on all of the cardio, you're doing nothing but burning the small amounts of protein you're eating that could be used to build muscle. If you're playing basketball every day, skip the running, jogging, walking, whatever. At your weight, you should be eating at least 220 grams of protein every day in order to make gains, which equals 882 calories from protein alone. You need to be eating more carbs than protein, and don't forget to figure in some essential fats. Chicken, eggs, turkey, tuna, beef, milk are all good sources of protein. At your small size, I wouldn't be overly concerned with particulars, just eat decent foods and plenty of them. Pick up some high-protein weightgain powder from a health food store if you have the funds. Muscle isn't just going to magically appear, lifting without eating will make you stronger, but your muscles can't increase in size without fuel. And don't be fooled, pro bodybuilders are only that low in bodyfat during competitions. When they're packing on the muscle, they are eating huge amounts of calories a day and are inevitably increasing their bf%. It's only when they're cutting for competition do their bf% drastically drop. IP: Logged |
