I have had many problems with starces (brown rice, oatmeal, wheat, corn etc.) (bloating, constipation, weight gain -water weight, asthma). I'm thinking about switchinf my diet to fruits, veggies and almonds for my carb source. I am at about 9% bodyfat, with a six pack. I'm very proud of my body, and I don't want to get fat or even soft and rounded out. I'm wodering if the fruit (fructose) and almond(75g fat a day) will make me soft and rounded???

THANKS

The fructose in fruits will not make you soft and rounded. That is just a myth, actually the glycemic of most fruits is very low this is due to the relatively large amounts of fiber and the presence of furctose, (which has an extremely low glycemic index), just keep your friut consumption to about 5-6 pieces a day. If you start to eat more than 8-10 pieces a day you may run into some fat problems because of the limited number of fructose converting enzymes in the liver.

Almonds are a good source of unsaturated fat, however if you want a better type of unstaturtated fat (omega 3's) then also supplement your fat intake with some fish oil, flax oil or pumpkin seeds all of these contain high amounts of omega 3's, which have been shown to increase insulin sensitiviy in muscle cells (good) and help with fat loss (very good). Hope this helps.
