I think I've just discovered the answer to those who suffer from mild acne as a result of their high protein diets: PROBIOTICS are natural GOOD bacteria which can be ingested to kill all the nasty shit thats produced by the digestion of all th crap we mass-consume to GROW. Anybody used Probiotics or heard of them before? ------------------

I've heard lots of good things about them, but I never tried them. They are found in good quality yogurt, and are suppose to aid digestion of protein.

Since two of you guys are from the UK you will probably have seen the Chemical Nutrition / Dorien Yates Approved range of sups. The protein powders and meal replacements have probiotics included to aid digestion, promote healthier gut etc. ------------------

Yeah Yates' range is cool in that sense. But I'm not too sure about the Casein content. Supposed to be way inferior to Whey, etc. I think I'll try the probiotics and see what happens. Reckon my gut could do with some help after all the crap I shove down my throat! ------------------

Would probiotics help with constipation?

quote: Quite possibly. There are a couple of studies providing info on its effectiveness for preventing diarrhea by use of Lactobacillus probiotics. Here's an abstract that may be interesting. MR. BMJ

Cool link, thanks dude! Anyone know of any place that sells Probiotics on the UK high street? Can't find it in supplement form anywhere ;< Only in yoghurt! ------------------

seven seas multibionta!! buy em in boots!! and they stick the bacteria in milk or yoghurt because their easier to grow and ingest that way. i hope your not lactose intolerant, as that seven seas stuff is the only thing ive seen with probiotics that isn't dairy, and they cost a fair amount. as for tha constipation thing, try upping fibre contents (fruit, bran) and possibly a fibre supplement like psyllium seeds, while drinking lots of water to keep stools soft. if that don;t work just get it checked out.

Nice one Danielson mate I'm off to Boots now. As you're here, what do you reckon to Dorian Yates' (Chemical Warfare) or John Citrone's (Peak Body) range? ------------------

i've never seen either of their ranges in the many diet and health stores in my neck of the woods. i don't even think theres a GNC or whatever near me . oh well sorry!
Amateur Bodybuilder Posts: 91 |
No GNC near you? They're everywhere!! I've just been to GNC and they've got the wickedest range of Probiotics, all refrigerated to keep the live cultures alive (all 2 million of them per serving!!) On my second week now and I'm already seeing an improvement in my skin! Great stuff. Lets see if it really does improve my Protein digestion too............. ------------------

Also a lot of : (one of a kind, at one sitting) sauerkraut will help reduce the nasties in your system.

GNC stands for General Nutrition Centre and is the staple source for many a bodybuilder's supplement needs. Go to www.gnc.co.uk and see if there's one near you. ------------------

So far so good. Digestion of my protein seems to be improed, don't feel so bloated and less gas! Skin has cleared up good too, but don't know if thats the Flax Oil I'm also taking. I can see why Chemical Warfare (D.Yates) puts this stuff into their powders! ------------------ |
