Curious to see how many have stumbled on to it. I use it religiously and just ran out. I know of its benefits, but would like to know how many others have benefited like myself. And no, natural peanut butter is NOT a replacement.

chilin408: The benefits I've noticed from flax are: a)Quicker fat loss when cutting total calories and substituting a certain percentage with flax. b)my muscles feel fuller while on flax c)reduction of skin blemishes I'm sure there are more benefits that I can't notice or feel, such as the ones pointed out in recent research, but otherwise I do feel it to be beneficial. I use a minimum of 2 tablespoons a day.

Every time I use flax I notice my skin looks nicer but I always gain weight(fat) from the extra calories. I do feel stronger and more energetic on it. I take about 1-2 tbs/day. I'm confused because I keep reading that a couple tbs/day of flax is supposed to help you loose weight?

Using flaxseed oil, I notice that I don't get hungry between meals. I guess since it's a fat (a good one nonetheless), it takes longer to digest, so you feel full longer. It's also been very good for my skin and hair. You just have to remember that flaxseed oil is a fat and does have calories and account for that in your total diet.

i feel the same way,but when i get up in the morning for some reason recently i have not been feeling hungry or i get full very fast,so i sometimes just have protein(50g),and 3/4 cup of oatmeal, and skip the flax oil, then i get hungery about 2 and half hours later, versus with the 1 tbsp of flax it takes about 3 and half

I will mix it with a shake but sometimes that is not convenient. Some people recommend putting it on salads, cottage cheese or yogurt. NO WAY! Flax is so gross tasting, the last thing I want to do is prolong the taste. I just put in on a spoon and gulp it down. Nasty Stuff...supposed to help though...

i dunno, man, it tastes pretty good when it's fresh.... I also put a tablespoon in my metrx shakes.... it makes them A LOT creamier, and makes them fill me up longer. I guess the fact that the fat slows down the digestion also reduces the wicked case of gas that the shakes usually give me...

Well it's a top quality brand: Barlean's Flax Oil and pressed Dec 13 '00 and freshest before "Apr 13 '01" Stuff just tastes nasty! But then again, you can stomach those powdery MetRx shakes...so you're a tougher man than I!!

If you live in the UK, try looking for Linseed oil (but NOT BOILED!!) Flaxseed oil is fat, and should not be added to diet that already has too many calories because it will only contribute more calories. In other words, don't go adding good fat on top of too much bad fat(or carbs/proteins). If you're trying to lose fat then flaxseed oil is a good addition to your diet, but only if you're eating below maintenance calories. Flaxseed oil is also an excellent addition to a 'bulking' diet as long as you eat clean and limit your intake of saturated fats. And if your flax oil looks, tastes or smells bad then take it back and ask for a refund. It should be somewhere between flavorless and slightly nutty. Anything bad tasting is a sign of rancid oil and you should not go near it.

I use the sundown capsules, and I don't notice anything because I don't have an alternate body of myself to compare with.

I dont know what you all are talking about. Flax tastes good as hell in anything, mrp, whey protein shake, oatmeal. It only doesnt taste that good if you eat it straight. Try putting it in something. Good stuff.

I like flax oil on a salad. It tastes kinda like freshly cut grass smells, or like when you chew on a blade of grass, so its an appropriate flavor for a salad, LOL. Mixed in a shake I can't even taste it. I bet a lot of people who hate it have never tried really fresh stuff. It has to be constantly refrigerated. You wouldn't think milk would taste good after it sat in a hot truck all day being shipped crosscountry. Never mind the date code, this stuff goes bad FAST. |
