I know I'm not the only one who loves beer. I probably drink about 12 light beers a week... figure 1200 calories. How bad is it to get calories from beer? Or any liquor for that matter? And if I get drunk why am I always twice as hungry the next day? Like yesterday was my birthday and I got pretty fucked up.. and today I've been ravenous.

quote: alcohol has 7kcal per gram in addition to the barley carbs, yes I love beer. Stout. as long as your not using oral AS and not using beer to get drunk it is ok to have it in the diet. however if your getting drunk 1+ times a week it will hinder gains (I have this problem, but I'm 20) honestly I don't quite understand how alcohol affects the metabolism, I was told that ethenol itself DOES NOT give you a hangover, it is the impurities that are common in the production process. ------------------

I know what your talking about Valdez. I'm 22 so getting drunk 1+ times a week is an every week occurance here. Well thats mostly because it is winter break from school. Once school starts up again it is time to stop drinking until Spring Break, then again until summer. Anyway someone must know more. I know we aren't the only two that drink beer.

Three or more servings of alcohol per day will slow your metabolism by about 35%. That is three beers, three shots of hard alcohol like whiskey, or three six ounce glasses of wine. Most hangovers are caused by dehydration. One beer requires approximately 24 ounces of water to break down alcohol.

man, I drink alot more at school, at least thursday friday saturday and sometimes sunday night...thats when all I ever eat is protien shakes and chicken cutlets though...I read in a Maxim magazine a while back that for every six beers you drink, you piss out the equivelant of eight 12 ouncers, thats why you get dehydrated

1oz of pure ethanol has 200 calories. Making 1 shot of a 100proof liqour 100 kcal. alcohol dehydrogenase is the enzyme used to break down alcohol, when not enough of this enzyme is available to digest all of the alcohol the MEOS system is activated.(microsomal ethanol oxidizing system) although alcohol resembles a carbohydrate and yields energy (kcal) it is converted into acety-CoA alcohol carbons cannot support glucose production, so alcohol is metabolized more like a fat thatn a carbohydrate and is considered a fat in metabolic terms. ------------------

oh, and you get a hangover from being severely dehydrated not from "impurities"

Thank you for clarifying that about the impurities. I happen to work for a beer wholesaler, and all of our products are all natural, and brewed with the stricted of codes. Dehydration does cause hangovers! If drinking is causing a problem in your training, or any problems in your life than you're drink too much. Even if it's only once a week. Drinking beer (in moderation) without getting drunk even a couple of times a week is better than getting shitfaced only once a week.

This might sound stupid but I get drunk once a week and dance for 3 hours straight. When I go home I just drink a lot of water so I'm not hung over the next day. I also drink a protein shake then too. This is actually the only cardio I'm doing right now.. I just look at this as cardio because in 3 hours of dancing with all the honies, I definately burn off the beer + a lot more. |
