This was copied from my thread on the anabolic board:

here is my proposed diet:

CALORIC INTAKE
180lbs x 16 = 2880 maintenance calories
x 1.20 = 3456; A 20% increase in calories yields ~3500 calories a day.

MACRONUTRIENT PROFILE
180g protein (1g/lb) = 720 calories = ~20%
58g fat = 522 calories = 15%
568g carbs = 2272 calories = ~65%

CONTENT, FREQUENCY AND TIMING
I'm going to eat every 2 hours, about 7 small meals throughout the day. I havent worked out exactly what I will be eating. (Please advise) No carbs on last meal. Double carbs (higher GI) and protein on post workout. Other than creatine, I don't feel there is much merit taking supplements. I am iffy about glutamine. (Insert your input here)

Once I work out my diet I will tackle the training program. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Are you taking gear?
If so, you might want to up the protein to something like 300g, but the fat and calories look good

Natural; haven't touched a weight in 4 years. Please read my thread on the anabolic board--I dont want to repost like crazy on specific boards.

Thanks for your help!

I will read your post on the anabolic section here in a minute...but I really do feel that you need to eat A LOT more food. When you bulk...you need to bulk and not worry about fat. When you count calories when you are bulking, you tend to end up short-changing yourself and not taking in enough food/kcals. Eat more and do not worry about fat/kcals. Just EAT!!!

b fold, I understand the KISS philosophy here, but I want my regimen to be as structured as possible. I am a very meticulous person, and not being able to count calories would take out a lot of fun ;o)

Do you think I should go up in calories? If so, why? Keep in mind I am not taking anything for a while.

Thanks

i dunno about this other guy,, but I think you should not eat too much when you "bulk up" because you will be worrying about the fat when you are "cutting up"
Just keep the calories slightly positive, so that you are gaining just a tiny bit of fat per week, and keep the protein high enough..

Glutamine rocks! Especially if your doing 25x3x2/wk & 100x1x1/wk like I do.

Don't know about other's philosophy...but when I bulk...I bulk. I have at least 3 meals a day which contain at least 100grams of carbs in each of them. Usually closer to 125g or so. My other 3 meals contain a little less carbs and more prot. I eat at least 300g of prot. too. Lots of chili, tuna, white rice, cheese, oatmeal, pizza, Burger King, Hardee's when they have their 79c special, chilli from Wendy's, etc... I do weigh about 300lbs, 30"thigh, 19"arms, fairly strong too.

Just my 2 cents though. If you are worried about maintaining your "figure", bulking is not for you. Stick with cutting or toning.

Just my 2 cents once again.

Should I start taking creatine right off the bat?
