I finally found flax seed oil at the pharmacy in a grocery store the other day.I don't get it, I always here everyone saying " I have a table spoon here and I have a table spoon there,,, table spoon? The only kind of flax I've found comes in capsuls so how do you get a tablespoon,,, break it and dump it into the tbs. Also its like $8.99 for about 50-60 little capsuls (thats how much it was where I found it any way) so why would anyone pay that kind of money for it when you can get the fats you need from regular everyday food,,, maybe not as much of the omega-s, but there has to be a cheaper way or a cheaper place to buy it from, right. Also, it dosen't all come in capsuls does it? Is this what everybody pays for this stuff?

I use flax oil.In my opinion the actual oil is the best. The capsules cost too much. You can buy the oil from many places online.I get mine form www.proteinfactory.com i get the 32oz bottle for around $15.taking 2 tablespoons a day it will probably last me over a month.

Buy it in the bottles. it's way cheaper and I heard that the process involved in making the gelcaps destroys alot of the omega's and lignan. buyer beware. ------------------ quote:

Hyprzo just wondering is that including shipping and handling?

Shipping will be another 5 dollars or so.They send it in a white bottle.Im not sure how its kept cold during shipping.Maybe the amount of time spent in transit isnt enough to degrade the quality. [This message has been edited by Hyprzo (edited December 15, 2000).]

Actually I buy it in the seed form at a health food store, and just throw a tablespoon in with my oatmeal. I only paid a few bucks for a big bag full of this stuff. delts ------------------

I only take the oil version at 3 tablespoons a day This is the variety I get at a local health food store. This site has a place you can look up the nearest store to you that sells it. http://www.barleans.com/ ------------------

I buy flax oil in a 250ml black bottle. (According to my grandmother that is about 8-9 fluid ounces). It is cold pressed in a dark oxygen free system. The bottle has been flushed with nitrogen. You have to keep it in a cold dark place (fridge) away from oxygen. It costs me $10.55 New Zealand dollars which is about US$4.50. The US is usually cheaper so I'd imagine you might pay less for it over there. I put a metric tablespoon in the blender when I mix up my protein drink. Its done great things for my skin so I hope it is doing great things for the rest of my body too :> p.s. when are you guys going to leave the 17th century and start using metric. Measuring liquid in ounces! Thats like asking for a kilogramme (2.2 lbs) of petrol (I mean "gas"), hahaha :>

I'd love to go metric man, it's a total pain in the ass. the problem is the government would have to spend so much money changing all of the speed limit signs, school supplies, automobiles, etc. etc. no kidding lizzy! I hate U.S. standardization ------------------

If your still wondering why you should use flax vs. eating fattening foods--the reason is that flax is an "essential fat"...regular fattening foods contain fat but they dont contain the right kind of fat..."essential fats" also help to reduce overall body fat..Now, the people at the health store near me say that the liquid is much better than capsules and I dont know why..

I've heard that the fats in flax oil are more likely to be used by the body as fuel rather than stored. When you eat a meal filled with non essential fats, it also stimulates fat production. |
