Hello everyone, i just need some advice on how much protein\calories\fat to consume on my next bulking diet and when to take them.

At the moment i am training 3 times a week with weights very intensly and cardio twice a week around 40 mins. My workouts are about an hour each but late at night 8.30 - 9.30, so would taking extra calories\carbs at this time just be stored as bodyfat?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hell no those calories won't be stored as fat. that is the biggest myth in health, you can eat before bed all you want IT WILL NOT MAKE YOU FAT. get at least 100 grams of CARBS and about 40 grams of protein after a workout.

100 grams of carbs, would the body be able to absorb all those carbs all at once? and would you recommend doing that after just the weight routines or the cardio as well.
thanks

Oh definately after weightlifting workouts only.I don't know if you really need that much protein and carbs though.I'm thinking Valdez is a big guy, so maybe you might wan't to taper a bit on the carb and protein amount.

All depends on what your goals are. I am bulking heavily right now. I eat as much as possible. The object is...if I am not full, then I should eat.

I never venture down here but I feel the urge to help this forum. The carbs you eat after your workout will be converted to glucose which will then be stored in the muscles as glycogen. Afer your workout you muscles are as insulan sensitive as they will be so this glucose will procede to be shuttled into the muscles. They need these carbs to promote recovery. These carbs won't be stored as fat unless you over fill the tank, which after a grueling workout is hard to do. Up to 100 grams is fine. Protein is a must to commence to rebuilding proccess. Your muscle need those amino acids to recover, repair, and hypertrophy. Don't be affraid to eat before bed especially if it is post workout. You body is hungry and need nourishment to grow. It won't get stored as fat. Your body knows what to do with those calories.

Beezers is right on the money.

those 100 grams of carbs after the workout are MORE important than protein post workout. about half should be higher glycemic carbs, the rest medium glycemic carbs. remember you want those carbs to uptake into glycogen fast, so eating very low glycemic index carbs is not the best idea.

100 grams of carbs is NOTHING. how about 1 bottle of snapple 40 g. simple carbs, 1 pear or orange or apple or banana 25-30 g of fructose (actually a slow digesting carb) white rice!, hell any rice!!! it's sooo easy. a little oatmeal, but keep in mind you want to get some high glycemic carbs in! that doesn't mean refined sugar!! download a glycemic index chart off the internet. that will help alot.
