i'm afraid of morning cardio before eating anything because i'm afraid of losing muscle with it. What works for you guys? jogging, walking, or do u guys drink a protein shake before? any suggestions on how to hold on to the muscle with morning cardio?

BRO......i'm glad to see someone intrested in this topic. this is what ya do bro: say for instance, your last meal the night before was 9 p.m. and ya stay up, watch t.v., have sex with the g-friend/wife, then ya fall asleep. the BEST thing to do is this: wake up and remember the time you last ate. write it down if you must. make sure its a MINIMUM of 9 HOURS after (6 a.m. if you ate last at 9 p.m.) hit the treadmill at that point for MINIMUM of 45 minutes. take an E/C/A stack 10 min. before you step on the treadmill, throw on a walkman with music of your choice, and just go approx. 3.5-3.8 m.p.h. for 45 minutes. this is what happens: your body uses "some" stored carbs for fuel the first 10-12 min. of cardio, but then, it starts RIPPING into stored bodyfat stores for fuel. you'll burn approx. 3 times more bodyfat this way. if you eat first, YOU'LL ONLY BE BURNING OFF WHAT YOU JUST ATE!! as an added benefit for the hamstring/glutes tie-in, raise the incline on the treadmill (most treadmills have this) to about 4% or 5% incline. personally, i just bought my own treadmill for my home and i do this about 4 times a week. and lemmee tell you, my bodyfat dropped from 17.3% to 11.8% with NO MUSCLE LOSS (i'm also on gear). dude, this is the BEST way to drop bodyfat QUICK, aside from using DNP. but shit, doing this wont possibly kill you like DNP just might! GOOD LUCK!!

i finally got my gear today but i wanted to drop some fat before i started my cycle because i know i will gain some fat while on.
Well my question is this, is taking L-glutamine a bad idea before morning cardio? It's suppossed to help preserve muscle. I'm asking because i think ECA's help preserve muscle and i don't like taking ECA's too much.

What about if you lift for about 45 minutes then hit like 30 minutes of cardio??
I think the only drawback to doing this would be that you can't immediatley eat after training to replenish glycogen?

however you would be burning fat the second you step on that treadmill because the previous lifting session would have burned all the glycogen in the muscles for fuel, so fat deposits would be the only energy source.

That's what I do. A cup of coffee first thing, then into the gym for an hour - hour and 1/2. Then 20-30 minutes cardio. I thought all the glycogen would be used up by the weights, and the cardio could only burn fat.... right?

there will ALWAYS be left over glycogen after you eat or after you work out and you will burn LESS FAT. ANY food taken in first will be burned FIRST. even after a long workout, not ALL the glycogen will be used. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE, DO CARDIO IN THE MORNING AFTER AN 8-10 HOUR "FAST". even then, there will be some glycogen in the liver to be burned first, usually the first 10-15 minutes of cardio is mainly glycogen depletion. 2nd best is doing cardio after you workout, that is true, but it is less effective in burning bodyfat exclusively.

P.S.---- for some of the newbies/meatheads that dont know what the 8-10 hour "fast" is, that is when you sleep at night. your body burns calories, slowly, even when you sleep, meaning it takes 8-10 hours to totally wipe-out glycogen storage that would normally be used as fuel.

I read in a magazine that youi burn calories more efficiently and get better results from your training if you hit the weights first, and do cardio second.

So who's right?

Were both "right" if you do cardio in the morning you have to wait about 6-8 hours before lifting so that your muscles will replenish their glycogen level.

as I do not like to go to the gym twice in one day. I would incorporate mine with my workout OR I could just as easily run outside in the morning, then lift later.

bodybuilders dieting for a contest frequently choose to cardio first thing in the morning. so I guess you could say that is more effective for getting down to 3-5% bodyfat.
