I've been on a cutting diet of sorts (one that I made up myself) for about ten weeks now, and while I'm reasonably satisfied with the results.... I find that if I don't have my food there and ready to eat by the time I'm hungry, or by mealtimes, I'll give in to the cravings and go on a carb binge.

In order to stick to my diet, I need the food right there in front of me, ready to eat when I need it. I don't have the willpower to prepare egg whites or grill chicken breasts when I'm hungry. Therefore, more convenient "ready-to-eat" food is good for me.

And I found some processed ham products which are 98% fat free, and zero carbs (and about 20% protein).... that sounds like a pretty good deal to me. And what's more, it comes pre-packaged, pre-sliced and ready for me to eat. Very convenient!!

So why do I never hear of bodybuilders or fitness people eating pig products? Low fat, no carbs, reasonably high protein.... I don't see what's wrong with it. Can the nutrition information be trusted? Or is there something I'm unaware of?

What's the catch?

like samuel l. said in pulp fiction: "a pig is a dirty animal" LOL, but this is somewhat true. pig meat is VERY high in sat. fat. and that ain't great for ya. it's def. not gonna hurt to eat once and a while but it's not the best source.

But it specifically says 98% fat free. And on the nutrition information, it says only 1.5% fat.

What's up with that??

bro, i dont like how you said, "i cant be bothered to prepare anything" me, myself, i always prepare good clean, food for myself, its your body bro, you get what you put in, so what if it takes a little time, prepare alot at once and refrigerate the rest or something. this is not a flame, just an advice, thats all.

also, i actually eat alot of pork and beef, i cook them really slow in a pan on the stove, so i can render all of the saturated fat out, and left with a little fat and the rest portein. a little sat. fat is good for ya anyways, i said a little

It's better than eating nothing or carb-bingeing. But it's not ideal food because it's highly processed, usually full of salt and nitrates, blah blah blah. But if that sort of thing doesn't concern you, then go for it.
