I have been searching around for the best protein bar for a while now. My ideal bar would be very high in protein, low-medium carbs, and as little fat as possible (zero fat is ideal). I have went to a few places and so far I found certain Met-Rx bars from GNC to be the best. The fudge brownie flavor has 26g of protein, 52g carb, and 2.5g fat (.5g sat fat). The chocolate graham cracker chip flavor has 27g of protein, 48g carb, and 2.5g fat (2g sat fat). Plus, both of these bars taste damn good. I am wondering if anybody out there knows of a protein bar that has more protein and/or less fat, sat fat, carbs? Taste is not really too much of a concern as long as its edible. Any suggestions are appreciated.

The only bar I recommend is the Designer Protein bar. It tastes bad, but is the only one worth eating for 2 reasons: 1. The main protein is Casinate, which is low grade 2. The 2nd ingredient is Hydrolyzed protein, which is Collagen, and collagen is unusable by the body. Very little of the protein in the bars are used by your body. The Designer Bar is all Whey, mostly concentrate, which kind of sucks, but it is still better than the other bars.

If you're going to eat protein bars, I'll recommend two that I eat. I usually like to stay away from them but sometimes the convenience really helps. The Labrada PBjelly sanwich bars are delicious! They have 29g p, about 20g c, and i think it was around 5g f. Yogurt coated and very moist and chewy, something you can live with. Also very good are the Mesotech PBchoc, which have 25g p, 44g c (sugars 29g) and 7g f(half from efa's). It has a very good texture, soft and chewy and really does melt in your mouth. These are the only two bars I'd recommend. The very low carb bars all taste bad.

Try Met-Rx's Protein Plus bars. They have less carbs than the regular ones but about 8 grams of fat, I think. I agree, the regular Met-Rx bars are great, I practically lived off of them when I was in college. The Protein Plus bars don't taste quite as good (probably because they contain much less sugar). Also, try Power Bar's Protein Plus bar also. I like the vanilla yogurt. ------------------

I love Met-Rx mrp bars and the mrp powder. I think they taste very good and I buy them ast Costco for much less than GNC. I have never thought much or ordering stuff on-line if I can get it locally. At a great price and it's hard to beat. I also like Pure Protein, they have a berry flavor that is almost always sold out at the local nutri-sport.

I agree, tns. The berry flavor Pure Protein is pretty good, but I'd rather pay an extra 50 cents or so for a Met-Rx, more protein and more to eat..Yay! ------------------
