Here are my stats so far:
Male bodyweight 243 Lean mass 183 (Fat ass I know)
According to the diet I'm supposed to eat
3145 calories per day. 2410 from fat.
183 gram of protein a day.
267 grams of fat.
0 carbs
.
I am having a hard time gettint the required calories from the fat and I eat like a pig.

Day 1 2099 calories 5 grams carbs, 226 protein, 123 Grams of fat.

Day 2 2464 calories 3 grams carb, 277 grams of protein, 116.5 grams of fat.

Will the high protein screw up the diet? I'm supposed to eat 183 grams and I'm over 200.

I always like eating a ton of protein, I just don't want to screw up th diet.

What do you think?

Parabellum,
This will definetly not ruin the diet, especially since your calories are lower the recommended amount(which will help) 183 grams of protein sounds a little low for your bodyweight anyway. 1 gram per pound sounds better(which is about what your doing) I don't know which ketogenic diet your on(Atkins?) but there's no need to get too technical and calculate calories and amounts of protein. The most important part is to avoid carbs at all costs. Eat whatever else you want as long as it has no carbs. When i did this diet, i just fried every form of protein in sight, hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage. The beauty of this diet is you don't need to count calories(just dont get too carried away) This diet is very effective but only in short intervals. I think the best way to do it, is to do the ketogenic diet for about 7 days. at this point your metabolism is gonna be pretty sluggish. You need 2 days of high carbs to kick start your metabolism again. After that you'll be ready for another 7 days of ketosis. This is my opinion from personal experience. A side note: when possible try to get as much of your fat from unsaturated fats(they're a lot better for you-essential fatty acids)-i know its tempting to cook everything in butter but olive oil is so much better for you. Anyway, I hope this helps in some way. Good Luck

Worm, where did you get your info? There is no data indicating these diets are only effective if done for short periods of time. Further, many people fail on these diets because they don't pay attention to their caloric intake. Also, the 2 day carb up is not at all necessary. Assuming our friend parabellum is lifting, then some form of carb up would be a requirement, but it has nothing to do with metabolism... it has to do with fuel for a resistance workout. Metabolism is primarily affected by caloric intake.

Assuming you are lifting, and you have a bw of 243, I would take calories no lower than 2430, but play around and see what works for you. If you drop more than 2 pounds per week, increase your calories.

I'd try to keep protein at .9 x bw, or about 220 grams (880 cals), the rest fat, save for 20-100g of carbs (lower at first to get you in, then increase a little if you like, some can go up to 100, some need to stay much lower.) (Source: The ketogenic Diet, by Lyle McDonald)

Protein has to stay low until you are in ketosis, then can come up some, but don't overdo it, as excess protein can boot you out of ketosis.

Here is the link to the diet I am following, It's called The Cyclical Ketogenic Diet.
http://www.massbuilders.com/feb2000.htm#ketogenicdiet

I List 5 x week as heavy as I can handle.
I do mild cardio at least 3 times a week. I am bringing up the intensity and interval of the cardio.

I'm very familiar with it.

I think you'll be fine at slightly lower calorie levels - the important thing is to monitor your composition changes so you know what is happening to you.

Since keto dieting kills you appetite, it will be tough to eat enough.
