I cannot seem to get the mental part down of deiting. I feel like I am missing out on good times if I don't go out and eat donuts and pizza buffets. What do you guys do about this. Night is my worst time. I have my postworkout shake at about 430, then dinner at 530-6. But then come around 8 I am starving like no other. what should I do, eat more at dinner, or eat less and have another meal later around 8 or 9. Please help out with mental tricks, or anything that you guys do that works. thanks aton fellas. I want to have that lean look pretty soon ------------------

dieting takes alot of discipline; eat 6-7 small meals with 40% protein, 30% carbs, 30%fat, you should also do some light cardio in the morning with the help of and eca and coffee. remember dieting is not easy there are those who can and those who cant, hopefully you are one of those who can, if getting in better shape means a few sacrifices here and there so be it; remember its your body, you are, and always will be what YOU make of youself

Nobu is right-dieting can often be uncomfortable. If it was easy, everyone would be ripped! But it may also be that you're just not eating enough. If you've dropped your calories by more than 300-500 below your active metabolic rate, then you need to increase food. And of course you should allow yourself regular cheat meals so you can still eat donuts and pizza occassionally.

MENTAL TRICKS.....Try envisioning what you want your body to look like be for you shove that fatty donut in your face. Also pay attention to how you feel after eating those kinds of food and how your body responds. Remember that before making any bad diet decisions. ------------------

Carbs trigger appetite. If you notice after you eat pizza, for example, you wanna binge. eat more protein, drink more water. Check out the Atkins diet... The other posts has good points. Visualize what you want to look like. good luck

Pectorific: I have the same problem. I can control my eating all day long but come night, I have to use all my willpower to keep from eating everything in sight. One thing that seems to help a little are those over the counter E/C/A pills like xenadrine and adipokinetix. These products will help control your appetite, only problem is they keep you up all night. I guess its one or the other.

When those hunger pangs hit at night you should mix some Metamucil in a big glass of water and drink it. The fiber expands in your stomach and makes you feel full. Not only that but it gets things moving the following day if ya know what I mean! This is a great dieting secret for late nights - my worst time for diet screw ups!

Dieting has got to be the hardest part of bodybuilding. I feel it is also the most important part. I am 5'8", 170 pounds, and have 17 inch arms, all naturally, and I feel my knowledge of nutrition is what has allowed me to achieve this. I have lots of friends who know how to stack megadoses of steroids, but dont know how to eat correctly, and they are still trying to catch me! The truth is when summer rolls around they try to cut up with winstrol or clenbuterol, however I use disipline and dedication. It never fails, when its time to hit the beach I always blow them away with my ripped physique. Food is more powerful than any drug, and you must learn to eat the proper quality, and quantity of it if you ever expect to build an amazing phisique. I suggest going to the bookstore and picking up a good book like Gold's Gym Nutrition Bible, or about twenty others of the same genre if you dont know how to eat. If it is purely a matter of self-disipline, then there are some questions you must ask yourself. "Why do I want a lean, ripped phisique?", and "Is it worth giving up my favorite foods, and eating clean five or six times a day(even at night)?". Can you have a lean, ripped physique? Weigh the answers to these questions and you will have your answer. I know my steroid using friends dont have the willpower to do so, that is why I can look better than them year after year, even with no pharmacutical help. I have been critisized for my clean eating habits in the past by friends, girlfriends, or even my mom, but I didnt let that stop me. Identify the reason you want a great physique and let that be your stength when you are having a weak day. Maybe you are cutting up for spring break, or maybe to strut around at the beach in the summer, or even for a contest, whatever the reason think of it when you want to cheat and be strong. I also recommend a cheat day about once a week, just dont overdo it(something I am proned to do). Dont try to stay lean all year round either unless you are already as big as you want to be, have an iron disipline, are clinically insane, or all three. I recommend that about three-fourths of the year be dedicated to bulking, both to add size and to stay sane. Remember though, that I am a natural bodybuilder, and it may be possible to stay leaner in the off-season if you are using juice. My last piece of advice, not just to you, but to everyone on this board, is to remmember what made you want to be a bodybuilder. I think sometimes we get caught up in all our sets, reps, and routines, and forget what made us all want that bodybuilding physique in the first place, its different for everyone, but we all share a common goal, a great physique. Sorry this post was so long, almost like a sermon in The Church of Iron, but I hope some of the bros on this board agree with me. I'm out.
