If you cross the border in your own vehicle that is usually not a problem but they are about to impose a new tax in mexico on any vehicle going deeper into mexico that 15 miles. Thier will be an 800.00 dollar tax you will have to pay if you pass that point. supposedly refundable if you come back through that point. put you nike running shoes on or get a cab and have extra cash.. going to try to check out mexico in 3 weeks just to see what up there..levi ------------------ IP: Logged |

I think part of that is like a deposit, that they will retain. Funniest damn form of wellfare I've ever seen. Do we not support them enough as it is ? ------------------ BPP IP: Logged |

The $800 is a deposit for your vehicle. You get it back when returning, it's imposed to discourage the illegal selling of cars over there...you can usually get more for your used car in Mexico than in the U.S. believe it or not. I don't think the deposit is required when going to Baja, just inland Mexico. ----Picasso IP: Logged |

Too expensive, and driving takes only three and 1/2 hours. I would take an hour and 3/4 just driving to LAX and parking, then the flight and then having to sit around after you get your gear just to return on a plane again. No thank you. I go to Mexico all the time and I can cross the border into TJ and be back to my car in less than an hour if I am in a hurry (and that is with going to a vet and a pharmacy). A plane ticket would be a waste of money in my opinion (for my situation anyways). DreamingBig IP: Logged |

I don't know if worth the risk to get caught at the port of entrance,One time I was comming from panama, I was detain, they check every single each of my luggage, I was fucking sweating, and I know I did not have anything, Later they explain me that I fit the profile, WTF they hold me for almost an hour, I think is better to have it mailed or buy it local than sweat at the airport carlos IP: Logged |
