ARod sign for $252 Million with the Rangers. Highest paid football player, which brings in more revenue than any other sport, is Aikman at around $8 million a year. What do you think happens with the football players union's next meeting. "Salary Cap? FUCK THAT!!!!!" ARod is going to make $43,000 per at abat, $173,793 per fucking game. The AVERAGE US per capita income is $28,500, which I don't know how the hell they get by on that. Griffey made 8.5 Million in 1997 which was the highest paid, now 4 years later ARod is going to make 3 times that. And to top it off the won't win jack shit with that lousy ass pitching staff they have, cause we all know that good pitching beats good hitting every day and especially in the playoffs. I used to love the damn game too.

Well the jack ass ownere said 3 years ago that they werent going to be able to keep doing this ......yet they keep shelling it out. I still go for the get what you can get, but god damn this is fucking insanity. Ramirez might hit 70 HR's drive in 180 runs and hit .385 at Boston Unless we as fans stop watching and paying the escalating seat prices, beer prices and all the other shit it will continue.

"Unless we as fans stop watching and paying the escalating seat prices, beer prices and all the other shit it will continue." EXACTLY! A-Rod makes $250 million because of us! Cut the t.v. off, don't go to any games, don't buy any merchandise, and these high ass salries will be a thing of the past. I don't care how good any of those guys are, they don't deserve 25 million per year. The next time you go to a game and buy a beer, just remember you are helping one of your teams' players to live a lifestyle that we could only dream about. FUCK THEM!

Well having come from that lifestyle (it is fucking awesome man.....you are royalty everywhere ya go) and being where I am now, it is easy to see why there are so many pissed off people. I still say if the owneres are willing to pay the outrageous salaries then they are getting what they deserve.

RudeDawg, True that the players should not be blamed for this. The NFL determines its salary cap as a percentage of TV revenues. So does the NBA. Both leagues have LEAGUEWIDE TV contracts. Then they divide up the revenue among each team, and the cap is a percentage of that. MLB does not have a leaguewide TV deal. The Yankees have their own with Cablevision/MSG network. Other teams have their own also, but there is no deal on which to base revenue splitting. And I doubt there will be - because regular season baseball is about as boring as sports programming gets. When Kevin Garnett signed a 6yr/120million dollar deal in the NBA, the lockout ensued, and no one felt sympathy for the players. The owners overran them and enforced a cap as well as a rookie pay scale. Look for a similar operation in baseball...and someone who gives a shit about the "national past-its-time" wake me up when it's over.

Well baseball is going to go broke one of these days dishing out this kind of money. What i want to know is what if all the owners got together and said ok, we are not going to pay anyone over 10 million per year no matter who it is. They all sign the paper and hand it over to the commishioner. That would be the easy way to do it. Would the players say fine ill go play somewhere else, or ill retire? I always wondered what would happen if they did that.
