There's probably a few here so I just wan't to ask, Why are Fat girls in denial.Fat girls actually think that there will come a time when fat women will become socially acceptable and even viewed upon the public as being beautiful.HA!What a bunch of horseshit. The fat women even now use a different type of word to describe them as "PLUS SIZE".Please, that's like calling retarded kids "SPECIAL".Why can't some people just accept the fact on who they are and quit being in a state of denial. Then there are women who take the fitness thing too far. What do these women have in common? Both genre of women are unattractive. So what type of women are attractive?Well it seems like the vast majority of people think it's along the lines of supermodels(not the aneroxic ones), actresses(angelonie Jolie, Cameron Diaz, etc., opinions do differ) and other types of beautiful women who grace the covers of popular mags. How do I know this?Well if they weren't the type of women that the majority of people considered beautiful, then they would not be covered, praised, and loved by the media. How do we know this is not just an image the media presses on us "impressional folks".Well, because the media is not an unknown evil that forcefeeds images to us in an attempt for them to control what the public should consider beautiful women. The reason is, the public controls the media. The "VAST MAJORITY OF MEN" in society tell the media which women are beautiful. How do we do this?Well, we buy their images on mags, go see their movies, watch their tv shows and etc..The images you see in the media of what is perceived as "the Ideal Woman" is true, because this is what the public wants and not some fat chick or anything else.

Jennifer Lopez.

btw: fat guys are just as gross to the opposite sex. for your feeble mind that means females.

... anyway, you have to be a dumbass to think that the media is controlled by individual americans.

"Supply on demand" is more of a better explaination. The reason women like Jeniffer Lopez are popular is because the public says so.If no one thought she was pretty, it owuld be pretty unlikely you would see her on talk shows, mags, movies. Why?Because no one would care. Why don't we look at her talents?Sorry, that's not how it's done these days.Individuals don't influence what the media glorifies, just like I said in the post it's the "VAST MAJORITY" that decides which women should be considered ideal.Hence, Jeniffer Lopez's popularity.Individual tastes do differ but we get a common trend to what genre of women we see become famous for their looks.

I also would love to spend hours in lust with jeanine gorafillo (sp?)

I still don't know if I agree with you saying "the vast majority" rules the media. it makes sense as "follow the money" ie. from citizens buying in to something, someone. but the government also influences the media, and vice versa. the "vast majority" are not knowledgable on many subjects which is why they are easily led astray. (as in issues, drugs, foreign involvment etc.)

Who's talking about the influence that the general public puts on the media on subjects like politics, drugs, or anything else?I'm talking about the media's glorification on how the ideal woman should look like.Which I think is accurate to what most of us think as beautiful when it comes to women, In my opinion and many others.

what you think as attractive for women is influenced genetically and environmentally (environmentally meaning personal experience NOT the media)

fat women, fat people are not satisfactory because of subconcious genetic codes... whatever. MY POINT IS: THIS IS A PROCESS OF NATURAL SELECTION NOT THE MEDIA.

excuse my brief answers as I am working on a final essay now for school.

NO, NO I completely agree with you. What we conceive as being attractive in terms of women's looks is completely genetic, that's my point. The article is more of a look on how some women(who are not considered attractive by a huge majority of men) blame the media for forcefeeding the public with images of supermodels and beautiful actresses therefore making the argument that it's the media's fault men think these women are considered "IDEAL" and how women should look.Which in my opinion is true, these women we see in the media is how women should look in my opinion to considered attractive but I'm not the only one with that same view. The post is more about women(who are not considered ideal and attractive) having a problem with that and continue being in a state of denial.Women like Jeniffer Lopez, Salma Hayak, Elizabeth Hurley, the list goes on are considered ideal by most men, hence their reason for their continued popularity.

I really should be asleep by now, but here I am... DWUH, I agree with your premise of many people being upset and blaming the media for setting unrealistic standards for beauty. The fact is that most of these women that you call ideal are tiny, waif and sickly looking. These women are starving themselves to look the way they do. Let's not forget about the magicians behind the scenes that create the perfect lighting and camera angles and the make-up artists that hide all of the blemishes on these godess' faces. We could also discuss plastic surgery, which has played no small role in making many average women look glamourous. Women that choose not live in a constant state of hunger or subject themselves to a surgeon's scalpel shouldn't be critisized for their decision to be healthy and natural. As for people - men and women - that are overweight, why not just let them be? I believe that each and every person on earth can honestly say that there is at least one thing that they would like to improve on. For some it may be to reduce their level of bodyfat, while others may want to add a few pounds of muscle to help them feel better about themselves. Honestly, wouldn't you agree? I'm quite sure that you can look at yourself in the mirror and say the same. I know I can.

The "Ideal woman" just shows how our minds can be controlled by the electronic media. I am guilty of this too, but lets not forget the old saying that beauty is skin deep. That holds a LOT of truth in it. Yes my wife is overweight, yes I am still chunky, but I would not trade my life for anyone elses' I am my own and all that I have comes from my self and there are no regrets.

The message that you have to live up to an ideal reminds us of how sheepish we are, to follow the crowd and listen as to how we are live our lives. We have within us the power to break that cycle and become our own ideal, when that is accomplished, you grow and mature and become a better person inside and out.

Think for yourself and live outside the box.

i remember seeing some interview w/ Jennifer Lopez, and in part of it, it went 'behind the scenes' to show her makeup artists/hair, etc...in action, and before she got of that done, she looked pretty average, maybe even below average, jes' goes to show ya...what u see is not always what u get...
