I deadlifted for the second time tonite. I used 183 for a few sets of 6. I used an underhand grip for the left hand and overhand for the right hand. What is that called? I did that becuase the bar about fell out of my hands. Is that how you are supposed to grip the bar? Also, I think my back is gonna be sore...the deadlift is awesome. Another thing and then i'm gone, what about using a belt? I did tonite.

I use that diamond bar thing that has the grips on your side. I think its called a trap bar, I ain't too sure.

Believe me, deadlifts are going to make a great improvement in your back, it's a shame it's such an overlooked exercise. Probabaly my favorite. Keep it up, you'll be happy.

Make sure your form is good i.e, do not jerk the weight. This is the best back excersize. Traps also.

The grip you're referring to is called the Over/Under grip. It is used for bar control. Just make sure you switch hands each time, so you're not using the same hand for the over or under each set.

Deadlifts are awesome. The more experience you get with them, the more you'll love 'em. And if you're at a gym like mine (like almost all of them) where nobody deadlifts, you'll get a lot of attention when you weights really start to move up.

Personally, I like using a belt. It's not real tight, but I feel a little extra support and the rest is probably just psychological. It's what works for me and, unlike the naysayers will claim, I don't have a weak back (I also use it for squats, shrugs, barbell rows, stiff-legged deads, and barbell curls).

Yep, just put deadlifts back in. Hit 135 for 8 then 225 for 2x 8

Had to go under,over for 225 though. I'll have to get some straps for them.

I also switched from leg press, Hack squat. Back to normal Squat. I feel better already. Those machines are strength robbing. I was doing 6x45 on the Hack squat, and just about passed out from 2x45 on reg squats after 3 sets.

Yeah I got caught up in machine stuff. Back to basics for me.

Kool Aid: Only 45 pounds? How old are you? With deadlifts I did like 15 reps with 133 after my back workout. Then did 183 for a few sets of 6 with the under/over grip.

Those are WEIGHT ratings... GEEESH,

6x45= 270 + the Sled. Hack Squat
2x45= 90 + the 45lb Bar = 135 Reg Squat.

I use 3 sets x 8-10 Reps. Understand better?

Big Nick, DO I sense some humour?

Yeah and I only bench 135 3x8-10

Considering I just started back at the weights. And I am in my 3rd week. I am doing good.

I started at 115lb Bench. And am now back to the 45lb plates, I am adding 5lbs each session.

I have gained 7lbs LBM and lost 5lbs Fat so far.

I am young and fortunately I have a good deadlift due to being a powerlifter. I love thge sumo style best. I don't use gloves just rosin. for my little 140lb body I easily dead 300 4 reps about 4-5 sets. the numbers pack on for anyone who goes serious with them. I get to dead in about 3 hours.

keep up with them and always keep good form and warm up completely.

Of course I'm going to add my .02 on this one:

BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!! Deadlifts put your lower back in a position to get hurt!!! Trust me, I know. One fuck-up on ONE rep deadlifting 5 months ago, has not only halted my progress, but I've lost 5 lbs.
during the course of recovery.

Worst BBing mistake I've ever made.. Yesterday was my first full day back, and I'm going to get these fucking 5 lbs. back and more in the next 2 months before I start my cycle. Anyway, JUST BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!1
