nobody else does deads at my gym...i literally have to rearrange the place to set up...its funny but at 6ft and a lean 200lbs im one of the biggest guys there...im trying to inspire some of the young 'uns to quit doing smith bench presses all day and get old school with the free squats and deads...i like the way i look so much when i pause at the top of an 8 plate lift, i can't help but grin demonically in the mirror...you do that shit too i bet...

hell yeah bill, with tongue full out. i had 2 guys deadlifting with me tonight bill. one guy has been training with me for 4 weeks. he started his first week with 105 lbs for 3 sets of 10. tonight at 170lbs he pulled 275 for 6. i was more excited about that than what i did. core exercises all the way. the other guy had never done a workout like we did tonight. he was hurting when we left, but he loved it. do you do bent over rows? i do reverse and overhand grips alternating weeks. t-bars every other week. pulldowns to front every week. usually throw some other exercices in , but those are my cores. what about you?

yeah freak daddy i thought i was gonna pass out.

i actually got a real bad imbalance in my hips. my back got way stronger that my hip flexers and i was having trouble slepping on my stomach without getting cramps. i had to start going to the ciropracter to get stretched out and then train abs like mad to get balanced. that was like 3 months ago and i feel great now. i rack deadlifted a couple weeks ago and did 675 for 4.
hey and special bill think about it this way. the heavier u go, the more the bar bends, so once u find a good groove to pull from it almost gives u momentum.
455 is a great pull from the ground by the way freak daddy. keep it goin.

el-wipe-o...honestly it is good to see you on here and being civil.

special bill, u know i said out of a rack right? lowest pin setting. and my training partner has been to the worlds for powerlifting, so i know all the tricks of the trade. and for a record, i dunno? i really didnt think it was that big a deal to be honest. i really think anyone with a good deadlift should be able to do it.
and by the way, my bench...utter fucking gash!! the worst thing ever. honestly.

b fold,
thanks bud. good to be back. and i was always civil.
its just sometimes the truth hurts.

hey freak daddy,
u know what works wonders for your deadlift?
deadlfit for a couple months standing on a 3 inch stage, only under your feet not under the plates. stay at a weight u can get about 6 with, NO BELT. each week make your stage a little higher. always pull for consistant speed on each rep. pull with power and speed not just to get it up. i bet u $ in two months when u go back to your top end weight, with you're feet on the floor, it'll feel like nothing. no reason it wouldn't get u up to 495 for 2, WITH A BELT. probably even more. if u really want it.
just my 2 cents.

Bill, I think the canuck is telling the truth. Especially with straps you can use quite a bit more on a rack lockout. At 170 all natural I pulled 645 for a double at the lowest pin setting, even though my conventional dead from the floor was only 500 (yes, I put on those idiotic 2.5 CD plates when I pulled that). I figured El-Wipo would be great at lockouts, because the only real trick to a big lockout is keeping your sphincter tight.

Also: Franco Columbu= iron god. Comparing anyone to Franco is just sacrilege. I want to get a poster of that pic where he is DLing and the plates go all the way to the end of the bar.

Congrats dude. I did 510 at home after finally coming to my senses and buying some 50 pound plates. it is hard to get a true test of strength with the 25's, you have to bend over further, affects leverage. deads are a great excercise, make me sick and sore, only able to do some chins and shrugs after them. i'm still a natural, but someday may hit the sauce. good luck and keep up the good work

el-wipe-o, so your saying put 35lb plate under each of my feet when i dead? if so thats sounds kick ass!

okay...i admit, i have no experience with pin pulls, they sound stupid (kinda like squats on a smith machine)...the best part of deadlifting is that initial shock as you start to pull from the ground...but i might have to try it just to look cool for all the kids...

well, my back gets comments from people..guys are always asking about my routine...(i can poke my lats WAY out)..i think lat width has a lot to do with genetics...or maybe its from years of kayaking....i dont do a whole lot for it..it just grows pretty easy...

deadlifts
wide grip behind neck free chins with 30-40 pound dumbell between feet, finish with light weight lat pull downs that i really squeeze on....
wide grip over hand t-bar rows (by this time my lower back is on fire)
sometimes i will do some seated rows next
like to finish with close grip pull downs extremely heavy (for me, i can do the stack for reps now)....
this fries my forearms as well..i only use straps for the final two-three heavy dead sets...

since ive started doing deads, ive noticed some wicked thickness developing on the lower to mid back...deep pronounced groove back there...

hey special dickhead.
deads from a rack are to work your top end and to take out your hamstrings and keep it in your back, not to look cool for the kids.
sorry pound for pound i'm stronger than u. it must hurt to have such a dickhead like me be stronger than you huh?

i'm sure i look like a loser with a head like a red balloon, but i don't care.
my friend pull used to pull sumo. easy 495 for 8 reps, then he switched to conventsional and has a better top end but slower low end.
and my training partner was laughing at how no one believed i can pull 815, so i'm supposed to tell u that he pulled 650 in a contest, mind u he was 235 at the time. and he says your all a bunch of sissy baby's. not my words his.
sorry.

thats enough about that.
whats your weight and height special bill?
do u use gear? how long have u trained? do u compete? want to? do u really hate me?

Yesterday I Stiff leg deadlifted 495lbs for 2... my knees tried to bend a little, but nothing major. I natural right now, too! I felt great. One of those days when everything just click.
I warmed up my legs, did squats and ended up doing 350 for 2 sets with reps. Hack squats with feet high 360 for sets of 12. THEN the stiff legged deads! I had a crappy back day the day before, so that really made up for it!!! Renewed my faith in the gym!

This thread is great. I dead lift once a week. Here is my routine.

135x20
225x12
312x6
405x6
455x4
505x2
225x20 Go throw up in trash after.

I am not natural, but had a 500lb dead when I was. I can probably pull around 700lbs, but since i like my knees and my back too much I will never know.
