Okay, before you guys flame the hell out of me, I am not an automobile mechanic.
Anyway here is my problem. I have a 95 jeep wrangler that just started shutting off while I am driving, like you turned the key off. It first started out just kinda surging but continuing to run , now just dies. Sometimes it fires back up right away, other times it might be 20 minutes of trying.
I have replaced the following for spark related problems:...plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, ditributor firing module, coil.
I have replaced the following for fuel trouble:...filter, fuel pump.

Help !!

My mustang did something similar, it completely shut off while driving and would not start back up. I had to buy a whole new computer because thats what caused it, the other one burned up.

Not sure at all if that is the problem, but that was my experience with the situation.

Ok, here goes my old car used to do that after a time at driving and what we found it to be was the pertrol tank wasnt breathing properly so as you used the fule it became a vacuum that the pumps could draw from anymore. End result a change of petrol cap and breather lines fixed it right up. Now this may not apply to ya but it takes nothing to have a look at it

Could be a loose connection to the battery terminal.

My guess is that your jeep doesn't have a computer. ...?
Anyway, a diode in the alternator...maybe.
pull the battery cables off with the Jeep running. If it dies right away, then you've probably got a failing alternator. The other possibilities include ignition module and ignition switch.

Happened to me just like you described.

We had an 89 Jeep Eagle
Turns out the battery cable corroded so much that it lost the + connection.

Replaced the cable connector and that solved the problem.

I think you live about 10 mins from me...

I'm an ASE certified master tech so I have a little experiance with your problem. Do you have the 4.0L inline 6? If you do, it may have a bad crank sensor. Common with 4.0L engines. It loses its trigger signal and shuts the car off. Its located on the back of the bell housing and you probably won't be able to replace it yourself. Take it to a good mechanic and tell him what I said.

ps: disregard all the advise everyone else gave you. Everyones a know it all when it comes to fixing cars. You folks know how a hall effect type crank sensor operates? I didn't think so.

It wouldnt be running if it was the alternator. Its most likely corroded cables chords etc or the like. Had that happen with a car of mine and thats what it was. Or maybe a chip that is corroded or loose, somethin like that

Sus won't work, I had a 95' Wrangler and I kept it on anavar and cyp. It ran great and sides were minimal. When I kept the top on you could barely see the acne post cycle.
.
Acutally it is your starter. Had a similar problem in my car, you need a new ignition starter. Sometimes they overheat and shut down. If this happens and then you run the car and it shuts down and than you have to let it cool to start again.
