If you do join you may very well be stationed here in Norfolk since this is where the biggest navy base in the world is. I use to work on navy ships & like they say some of them love it & some hate it.I have a good friend whos an officer that was stationed here.Hes now stationed at a small base in Italy & he loves it. ------------------ BROS BEFORE HO'S

If you choose the Navy, It will be real hard to get your education done and the Navy had the ugliest women of all the services by far. On the plus you get to travel more than any of the other branches

definetly go and give it a whirl, they will make you a man. number one you will be in good shape, number two its easy to get gear in the military, number three the field you go into , you will have no problem getting a solid job when you get out. the only bad thing is that they own you. one of my buddies gt out of the navy, and was telling me a story how one of his navy buddies was out on the beach one day. well he must have stayed out there to long , but he had caught sun poisioning and had the flu. well the navy threatened to press charges on him for destruction of government property or somthing along those lines . thats crazy cause he caught a bad sunburn they were gonna threten him with destruction of gov. property. thats how much they own you

Why not stay in school and go ROTC. That way they pay for school, no more working the Navy pays. You become an officer, more money. And you can get a real job when you get through with all of it. . .just a thought. ------------------

You should definitely go for it hun. I did a persuasive speech on joining the navy for my speech class last year and learned a ton of good stuff about it. If you're in a relationship it will be tough, but nothing you shouldn't be able to handle. Good luck! ------------------

Enslow, You dont have your email listed..How in the hell can I email you with questions????? Can anyone give me an idea of the pay( the recruiter said $275. week to start) I didnt know if what they say is true or not...

I would beg to differ about the Navy having the ugliest women. I was in the Army for a few years and we had the nastiest women I've ever seen, except for those in the Msrine Corps. Thankfully I was in an all male unit. Navy women are definitely better than Army, and from what I've seen, better than Marines also. There are soem hot chicks in the air force,a dn they 9for some reason) like to have sex with me. No prob there. In other news: Yes I think you should go for 3 years. You'll see and do things you may never otherwise do, and it won't cost you shit. After that you'll be a little oder and wiser, and guess what, college will still be there. 3 years and then out. Go for it.

I know a friend who joined the Navy and he wasnt happy about his experiance. You should seriously consider ROTC. Being a officer in the military is the best way to go.

I was an electronics tech in the Navy for 9 1/2 years bro..and I don't regret any of it....I saw the world and I was stationed in hawaii for 3 years. Like somebody said though get a good source rating...something with electronics, computers, etc...I'm not knockin the other branches but if you want to learn some high tech shit go navy. I'd say 3years of my 9 in were spent in tech schools. I got out in 96 when my son was born and I didn't want to go on anymore 6 month cruises....all in all the Navy was an awesome experience though [This message has been edited by hooch (edited November 21, 2000).]

Definitely try the ROTC route, it is the best, unless you want to travel. What the above post said about the sunbern is absolutelt true I saw 2 people threatened with that while I was in the Air Force. I don't know about gear being more accessible, I didn't have access to any while I was in, but if you travel overseas it makes sense. By the way Skywalker, wehad the best women, but the army has some cute spanish sistas. The Navy women get real fat when they spend those long tours overseas and forget to exercise

I agree with Matt, the Army has some really ugly ass women, The Navy and Marines are not really any better. I will make this statement based on my personnal observations: THE AIRFORCE HAS IT THE EASIEST, THE BEST LOOKING WOMEN, BEST FOOD, BEST BARRACKS, THE BEST OF EVERYTHING. If you just want to get away I would do that. If you want to be a soldier join the Marines or the Army and go Light Infantry. Whatever you choose, Good Luck!!! ------------------

Enslow, I know you never post but HOLY SHIT - another HALO jumper.....good to see I'm not the only oneon here. HALO/HAHO is the best shit in the world..... There were two Navy SEALs in my Ranger class....both good guys...the only one I remember was a guy named David Markle - he would be an O-2 or maybe O-3 now...doubt you know him but ....it's a small world.

good to here bro, when were you in? what was your highest HAHO or HALO i did 56,000ft HAHO into the north atlantic last christmas. our glide path was somthing the new HALO alt allows certain SeAL teams to pull at 600ft. unfucking believable. later brother HOO-YA p.s. woman wise, navy/air farce hands down. i [This message has been edited by ENSLOW (edited November 22, 2000).]

Dude, if you are in college now & are capable of doing college-level work, there is no reason for you to join as a grunt/poop-deck swabber. Do as a couple of the other bros suggested & look into ROTC. I was in Army ROTC, but most large schools also have naval & AF chapters. They pay your tuition & books & usually give you a little stipend to boot---so you can quit your full-time job & focus on school. You can be in the program for the 1st year w/o any committment & if/when you do commit, you can meet your obligation via being an officer in the reserves if you want. YOU'D BE AN OFFICER, not an enlisted man. Dude---seriously think about this. Email me privately if I can help. Do a search online there is a ton of info about the ROTC programs of the different branches.

Enslow, I got out September 99. I was actually a medical separation because of a (static line) parachute malfunction that ended up with me breaking my ankle severely. I could have re-classified but didn't want to. Highest HALO was 38,000 feet - I've heard of SEALs going 50,000 plus (insane) but the highest HALO by anyone in my unit was 42,000. ALso HAHO from 36,000 multiple times with a glide path of 40 miles. Pulling at 600 feet is incredible. Being a civilian, I don't miss the bullshit, but I miss the people I served with.

I can give you this to think about. Really if you HATE college, then you won't enjoy the NAVY. Unless you are Extremely smart bookwise then stay out, otherwise you will be in the % of people who are being paid to chip paint from the ships. Out of 1 class only the TOP %, actually get into the schooling programs they have and it is very hard to do. SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT, TRY ONE OF THE OTHER SERVICES, MARINES, ARMY, AIR FORCE

Cathy, I just sent you a long-winded email. Check out the links sent earlier & they can answer alot of your questions. Give me a yell if I can help. I'd say there are alot of former ROTC guys on the board who could give you some advice. If anybody else is interested here are a couple of links to ROTC info: The search engine http://www.looksmart.com has alot of other ROTC info on it as well
