Is our country headed toward a Communist form of government? Ironically at the time when the former USSR is headed toward a true capitalistic society.

I am fed up with lawyers, politicians, and those who would sacrifice our freedoms for their personal gain and power.

How do you vets feel? Your sacrifices for the freedoms that made America the greatest country in the world are being thrown away like yesterdays garbage. What an insult!

Those who have abated these precious rights will have to answer to a higher calling as we
all must do eventually. I wish them NO mercy.
They have divided our country and this travesty should always be remembered.

Remember, the price of freedom is eternal vigilance. I love my country, lets band together and not let it go to hell.

Socialism is a system of government and Communism is an economic system. They do not always co-exist. Denmark is an example of a Socialist country with a Capitalist Economy.

I am sorry to hear you feel that way.

I will use some facts to illustrate why that statement reflects negatively on you.

The countries traditionally with the most socialist governments in terms of high taxes, and the government taking care of everyone's needs such as medical care...etc, are the Scandinavian countries. The people pay high taxes and have many government programs and not just welfare. These countries are also known to have been the most pure considering race, ethnicity...etc. They were around 95%-99% the same, so little foreigners or immigrants. Basically they were happy to pay for government programs because it was going to people just like them.

Now, the country that bitches the most about government programs and welfare [the USA] happens to have a huge number of immigrants and foreigners and not to mention large minority groups. That led scholars to assume that you are against redistribution because you are prejudiced against people that are not like yourself.

As a final note, the Scandinavian countries have recently been taking in more and more foreign immigrants. And guess what the people are starting to bitch about? Yup, they are complaining about the government programs and welfare. This is much more than mere coincidence.

Fender - good points about the homogenous countries being more eager to pay for programs.....there is more to this than we are admitting - we are not into wealth redistribution here because we don't like to imagine to whom it is going.
