As most of you know I injured my back about 2.5 months or so ago while deadlifting. To give a more detailed description of the injury, I believe it's a tendon or ligament located just to the right of 'where my spine meets my butt.'

It has ached on and off since I hurt it, but tonight I was doing hacks <off all things?> and on the very last rep on the very last set <of course> I felt the kind of pop you usually feel in your spine when hanging from a pullup bar, but I felt it right in that area. This was followed by an extremely sharp pain and now here I am at home again icing this piece of shit and lamenting over my missed hamstring workout.

I don't think my mom can afford to take me to the doctor who will probably tell me some bullshit like: "don't lift weights anymore."

I know there are certain AS' that can strenghten tendons such as primo and eq...which would give me a good reason to add them to my first cycle which I probably will anyway...but what the fuck till then?

I can't make gains naturally without heavy, intense movements. And I make sure my form is 100% now. Plus, I'm only 18, not fucking 80. How long does this bitch take to heal??????. Fuckin A.

I hurt my shoulder in a fight on Halloween, and that bitch is still painful, and makes military presses a little difficult. Tendon i think (i'm not 100% sure) takes a while.

Do you do hyperextensions?

oh frackal- like i said, it may bother you the rest of your life...are you warming up completely before deads...my lower back warmup may as well be a cardio session i do it so long...grab a 45 (well, for you 35) plate and just do stiff leg dl's for awhile...i do probably do a hundred or so...when i start to feel a little burn back there, i know im ready....and i stretch it out thoughout the day...you should let it heal for at least two weeks bro...

Yes I warm up extensively!! 10 minutes walking, 1 set hyperextensions, 3 warmup sets of squats!! 2 Weeks! NO!!! Shit I can't fucking take 2 more weeks off. I will just have to be careful.

I want to rip this piece of shit out of my back. This is fucking rediculous. There are 50 year old guys who heal faster then this. If I had broken a bone it would be healing faster than this pussy ass tendon piece of shit. I am very upset.

i think you actually tore/pulled your gluteus minimus muscle...right where your tailbone meets your ass right...it will be to either side...i did this too a while back...didnt do any sort of deads or squats for a few weeks and eventually it healed...take it easy on yourself...

frack, take the time off, period. do some rehab only type of work. if not, you will go through the same 3 year phase i went through. despite all the knowledge to make tremendous gains, i didnt do shit from 14-17 thanks to injuries.

I think you're right bill. This is where it hurts. But fuck this though. I already took off an entire month pretty much and lost a lot of weight and strength and now I am making progress again. I know I can't just 'will' it away but what the fuck? I can't just workout once every other month.

Maybe I should go to the doctor? What do you guys think he would do? I am not going to quit lifting.

The only thing I will do is stop deadlifting and hack squatting. <I don't know why this did it>

You guys have to understand something here. When this is my whole life, I can't just give it up for awhile. What do you think a doctor would do? If he wants to shoot me up with cortisol or something forget it. I just want to get this healed as fast as possible.

i know how it is bro, i feel like ive wasted a day if i don't hit the gym...i don't know what to say...i layed off all stressful movements for quite awhile...then i slowly went back, of course im doing a light AS cycle, that may be why i haven't reinjured myself, but ive done some pretty sick poundages lately...a sports med oriented doc can't hurt (except the pocket book)...

Stretch bro.
Hold the stretches for at least 1 min or more. The longer the better.
Most likely a pulled muscle or ligatmnet strain which has no recovery time period.
Could be 2 days or 1 year.

Frackal I did the same damn thing almost a year ago this week! I partially tore the gluteus minimus (my lil butt muscle as I like to call it) and I was down for 3 weeks! Take the time off!

Man I can tell you from first hand experience that your back is something you do not want to mess around with. I just had back surgery two months ago. I am 26 years old and I had three ruptured discs. I am just now starting to work out again after 7 months of laying off. Surgery has changed the way I lift. Warm up and stretch before lifting. Stretching is something a lot of lifters do not pay enough attention to. I know I did not. Now I am paying. 18 is young but look at it this way you have a long time and a lot of weights to lift ahead of you. Take your injury seriously and most important listen to your body. DO NOT RISK IT. A month or two here or there is not going to kill you. You have your whole life to lift do not do something you will regret. Lift safe and stay safe.

I guess I'm going to have to take it really easy then...ok. Does anyone think seeing a doctor would help at all?? It's hard to sleep.

It could be a slipped disc. I did that about a year ago on a warmup set of squats. It took about week to heal an dgo back into place. Ice will help the swelling go down and speed up the process. Or it could be that ferret that you shoved up your ass is making his way up your spine...

it sounds like your psoatic nerve. it plaqued me about 4 years ago. went to my chiropractor a few times, and now i see a massage therapist once a month. the mass. therapist will did into your glutes, and it feels awesome. also stretch your hamstrings as often as you can.keeping the hams loose will aleviate some lower back pain.
