There is nothing like snipe hunting...

Snipe is one of the hardest animals to track, it takes a seasoned pro to kill a snipe

Snipe is good eatin' too.

I shot at a 8 pointer this past Sat. It was 30 yards out and stopped right behind some branches. I thought it would clear. I also passed on a 6 pointer.

I live to hunt! I just got a mule deer that has a 32" spread 5x6 rack and scores around 191 BC gross. I used to be a guide for deer and elk hunts. Coyote season is finally here too!

Hunting sucks. This is not a sport. If you want to make it a sport, give the animals some way to shoot back.

Jae, you must be a Liberal! You want a "level playing field" in the forest, eh? And I suppose that little mice should be given artificial augmentations to allow them to defend themselves against those nasty kitty cats! And perhaps it is unfair that all those little fish get eaten by all those big fish in the ocean every day!
Fishing is unfair too! And so are slaughterhouses that give you your McFat Burgers.

I don't call it a sport, but they have a way better chance than an animal penned up at the feed lot being stuffed with drugs. How many cows get away before slaughter? I would say ZERO! If you eat meat at all the blood is also on your hands. You are paying someone to kill for you. Plus, even being a vegan you kill thousands of non target animals with all the pesticides that are sprayed on crops, so if you eat, something in the animal kingdom has to die. I imagine being a bodybuilder you get protein from somewhere!

I never said I was against it, I said it was not a sport. As far as the example of mice and kittens go, that is natural selection, you don't see the cats walking around packing high punch fire power.

And I was raised in a hunting family, that is all we did on weekends. I soon got bored with it, trading the rifle for a bow and that was a little bit more exciting, what fun is it to blow something up 1/4 mile away?

And fishing isn't a sport, it is a science.

I actually prefer wild game over beef. If it were up to me, I would eat venison over beef everyday. Venison has twice as much protein as beef, with the same amount of fat as a skinless chicken breast!

There isn't much places to hunt around here anymore (cali), agriculture is pretty much destroying all the habitat. I was driving past a farm, and I saw a huge pile of poisoned rabbits. What a waste.

Bowhunting is the only real sport. You have to fool the deer's senses. Cover up your scent perfectly, conceal yourself fully, be silent, and still draw and shoot without spooking the deer. A rifle just doesn't seem like it's much fun! Sit 200-300 yards away, site the game in a high powered, $500 scope, pull and drop the game within 10 yard!!! Oh boy!! That's not much fun! Bowhunting requires the game to come to you and slow or stop before taking a shot. I love it!! Currently shooting last years bow. Jenning Airmaster 82lbs, 28 inch draw. I bought a new 2000 High Country Carbon X-Press bow and my friend dry fired it!!! The lower cam bent and High Country still has not sent a new one!!! I spend 620 on a bow, another 200 on accessories, 100 more on new carbon arrows, for what?? To shoot my old bow again!!!! Sory to vent, it must be all the test in me!!!

If humans have used our natural advantages in the intelligence department to develop weapons which allow us to be better hunters, then that is also Natural Selection, my brother!

Jae, I bowhunt too. Actually that is my favorite bowhunting elk, but you are way wrong about rifle hunting. There is once in a blue moon when game stands on an open ridge 200 yards away and is too stupid to know you are there, but that is not the norm. I hunted long and hard with a rifle to get my buck. He was in thick trees and brush and just happened to be in an opening when I spotted him. Big mulies and elk always have a way of making you be one day behind them them, almost never will you see a good bull or buck just standing in the open waiting for you to take a 400 yard shot (which is damn difficult offhand). Normally you get a fleeting glimpse of them in the timber. Plus bowhunting whitetails is not near as hard as bowhunting elk. No tree stands and no patterns. BUT... I would accept you invitation to come bowhunting deer next year with you when you ask.
