I hav'nt quite figured out how to meet a girl without taliking to them first. I don't talk. I seriously never say anything to anyone. I would like to but I just can't. The words never come out of my mouth or the ideas never form in my head. If someone says hello all I say is "hi". If someone asks how I'm doing I just say "fine". It's almost like I'm mute. I'm in college now and I see all these people socializing(talking) and I feel helpless...leftout because I can't talk. I'm not sure what it is I just don't ever talk. I am starting to think it is medical. I used to think it was my personality but now I'm not so sure. I'm not shy, I just don't talk, I never have anyhing to say. It almost feels like what ever part of my brain controlls my talking abilities is not working. Like the little rat fell asleep on the wheel. It's starting to get to me now. I'm thinking about going to a doctor but I'm not sure if there is hope for me. Is this just me or could something be wrong? Any opinions. ------------------     | ||

I know how you feel man. I used to be like that, and still am to some degree. The issue with me is confidence. I always had low self-esteem. I notice as my muscles grow, so does my confidence so pretty soon I will be fine. If you are totally confident in who you are then I would go see a doc. If not, find out what your insecurities are and attack them. | ||

good point silvo, that sig seems like it doesn't relate to you. I know how you feel, I've been there, and like D as you get bigger, you get more confidence, I used to not say anything, but I noticed that going to parties and not talking to girls will NEVER get you laid. ex, I remember seeing some huge muscle head at the last party I was at, he seemed like the type of guy who could get laid pretty easisy. I never saw this dude talk to anyone aside from his two other friends {no girls} then they all just left when the beer ran out. I used to be like that, but trust me, you can't meet a girl, have a conversation, take her home and fuck the shit out of her if you don't talk. Girls don't approach guys. I, personally would rather not talk and just chill all night because I have an intorvert personality like yourself. But I have learned over the years that you will end up ALOT happier if you just engage in conversations with random girls even though you would rather not talk. Just try talking next time, you may not get laid every time and you may think you sound like an idiot, but every guy who opens their mouth at that party sounds like an idiot. We are much alike, its easy not to talk, but I decided to join the crowd. I still don't talk half as much as others, but when I see a cute girl, I almost always approach her and engage in a conversation, I would never have done that in the years past. But I was tired of not getting laid when my ugly, no muscle at all friends were. Just try being more social even though you don't want too, I know how you feel. ------------------ | ||

Just go up to a girl you like and start talking to her. Don't try some stupid pick up line, just talk. How are you? What's your name? etc. Nothing stupid, it never works. Once you do it a couple times, it will become easy for you. | ||

i use to be that way a very short time ago, i can usually talk to any girl i want now,liek today for example i asked a girl to a dance with no worries of what she would say cuz i really didnt care ------------------ | ||

dude, i cant talk to people either. never could... but here is a trick... pick out the hottest chick you see and go talk to her... ya, she has a boyfriend but so what... so what if you look like some pud whacker... just walk up say "hi, hows it goin?" then go with her answer and say somehting like "cool, well see ya around"... walk away and then breathe again.. and you will realize it wasnt that tough.. but their is a way to get a girl without talking too.. they are called hookers, and they dont have shit to say either, so thats perfect. | ||

beezers,, i am in the same fucking boat.. I have been at college for two years, and have talked to NO females at all, and I'm not a bad looking guy either. It is fucking tough, maybe paxil can help ya. I have a very small amount and use it every so often, and i cant really tell a difference. | ||

Same here guys, Paxil has to be taken for a certain period before it is effective. I have not used it but I have done some research. I only talk to girls if they talk to me first, that's hooked me up with lots of psycho ho's. I'm 28 now and I really don't care anymore so I am starting to open up. Face it, it's either that or die alone! Really there is nothing to loose, just be polite and try to make small talk. If she's interrested she will do most of the talking anyway. ------------------ | ||

I have got the same problem. Although mine is from shyness mostly. I wish I was one of those guys who was swauve and could talk. My tip for you is too think about what you say before hand! Also when people say hello make some mundane commnet about something and they will follow up with some comment which will lead to something else! It is that simple usually. It is funny but people like us actually have to think about this process which does come naturally to some people. So be prepared and remember what they say for future reference! good luck. | ||

I think it sounds like you have a problem that you are just admitting to. That's the first step. I think you should consider individual therapy. Just like cars, sometimes human emotions/behaviors break down. A trained 3rd party professional can help get you in order. It's no fun to live the way you are right? You can't keep doing the same thing and expect different results... Good luck. | ||

Yes, I feel your pain.. I was there. I out grew it. I'm 35 now and don't give a shit. Thats the secret..not caring what the girl thinks. I missed many an oppertunity because i didn't feel comfortable. Also, woman love compliments! I think it is because most of them are insecure in one way or another. OK guys there is no medical emergency here. Seriously, to get comfortable and just start talking to girls you need to be able to talk. So READ! Read everything you can get your hands on. Read the newspapers, read news groups, read everything, and pretty soon words are just pouring out of your mouth about everything. The newspaper is a really good thing to read because it gives you common stuff to talk about. If you are having trouble talking, then read, read, read! | ||

just curious Beezers...how long have you been working out? an increase in confidence is probably one of the greatest benefits i've gotten out of lifting. sure i love being stronger and looking better but what it's done for me mentally has been the the best. i was like you, i wouldn't go talk to girls...i would wait for them to come up to me which happens once in a blue moon. i was meeting like one or two girls a year as opposed to now where it's increased at least tenfold. once you put on size and feel better about yourself you won't care as much whether the girls talk to you or not. if they don't, great, who gives a shit. if they do, all the better. you don't have to be some super smooth guy to pick up chicks, just say "hey what's up" or "hi, how are you" and then take the conversation some direction and see if they follow with some degree of enthusiasm. when they follow with enthusiasm, the conversations are a breeze. hell if it's one thing i've learned about talking to females, just feed them questions and listen to what they have to say. don't sit there and talk about yourself for more than a few sentences...always revert the conversation back to them. this accomplishes a bunch of things: it keeps you from looking self centered and like you only want to talk about yourself, you can show you're a good listener, and you remain somewhat mysterious to her because you're not opening the door wide open and if she's interested she'll want to know more. just let them talk and throw in witty comments every now and then to make them laugh. it's not rocket science. ------------------ | ||
