SB: You will lose muscle mass in basic training or OCS unless you don't already train. Weight training will be available, but you will be in a very catobolic state. You'll be tired as hell, mentally drained, only eating 3 meals a day and doing tons of intense cardio everyday day. Have fun. ------------------ [This message has been edited by The Whole F/N Show (edited November 12, 2000).] | ||

Yeah, it sucks. I just went through my 2nd six weeks of Marine OCS. The worst is always being hungry, and then doing so much cardio and running that you wither away into nothing. There was a guy in my platoon that was a bodybuilder and he ended up keeping most of his muscle mass though. I don't know how, but he did. I'm sure he lost some weight, but not much. You will be cut as hell though. You sweat like you've never sweated before... Email me if you have any questions, i know the reserve thing as well as the OCS. Ditto what was said above. You'll miss the gym a whole lot, but I think the mental aspects of it will change your outlook on life. You will become very motivated. Its mentally and physically challenging, so after you will probably feel like you can handle or acomplish anything. I wish I would have joined the reserve or the guard instead of going active duty as its huge commitment. Good Luck bro!!! |
