I am not sure about my experience but would like some feed back from those on the board.

I have been unable to focus on issues and have started with a anti-depression medication known as effexor. I don't know if this is the right approach to this since I don't fit into the depression scheme of things. I sleep very well and eat well so that is not a problem. Depression can and does affect these areas, but I don't have those problems. I can't seem to sit down and get the things I want done and get distracted easly. I had ADD as a child and it sure seems to be the same thing but years later.

I would appreciate anyfeed back on this. I am willing to try the effexor approach but feel this is not going to work. I am now 44 years old, had a stroke and recovered 10 years ago. I had a seizure in June and have found a area of the brain with some electrical activity now that can cause the seizures. I am now on dilantin and have had no problems and will continue to take it.

Feedback anyone?

i dont know very much about anti-depressants...my little brother was on ritalin and then dexedrine...seemed to kill his personality...

one word of caution about the effexor, DO NOT try to quit it cold turkey....talk to your doctor about a gradual withdrawal...i've heard some horror stories about coming off that stuff...

good luck man, sounds like you've had a rough stretch...

I'm not sure how this will relate to exactly to you but I have the same problem--

I'm in college, and back in High School my parents said I had ADD, but I denied it because I was not hyper at all. My brother had it and took ritalin to help him but I refused to take any medication

By the time I got to college I was pissed at myself for getting unbelievable easily distracted whenever I tried to do ANYTHING. So I came to the conclusion that I had every symptom of ADD exept for hyperactivty.

1. Organization----HORRIBLE!!
2. Concentration---Terrible!

anyways, I found a solution its a drug called ADDEROL or ADEROL. This drug is fucking amazing, Its like Organization and Concentration in a bottle, One pill lasts for 4 hours and basically you get totally wired and in a good mood, you can concentrate on anything, I usually clean my apartment, do all my homework, study, after taking a pill.

I have noticed a HUGE increase in my grades, my freshmen year without Aderol my GPA was 2.0 since I got on the drug my GPA has shot up to 3.2. I have given some tablets to some friends when they take their final exams and they are amazed by their grades, people offer to buy some of me all the time.

So Aderol is the drug you need, however, you have to see a psycologist and get it perscribed to you.

Hey Naty:

I REALLY appreciate your feedback. I am seeing a psych because of this and he said to try the effexor first, but he did give me the choice, I am now thinking of the adderall, as the symptoms DO fit what you have gone through. The effexor is damned spendy and will give it a shot for the next few weeks. If it works fine, but I don't think this is going to work. I used dexdrine when I was a kid and it worked fine. I don't like the use of anti depression meds when I am not depressed. So I will have to wait and see. Thanks!!!

Laserdude, That really sucks. I'm 20. My mom used to always tell me that I had ADD, cause I could'nt even sit through a whole movie. When I was 15 I finally agreed to see a doc. He gave me ritalin and I took it, but only for a few days cuz my mom took it away. She knew I was smoking bud everyday(helped me concentrate), and she didn't want an interaction. I still suffer from this so please let me know how things go for you.

Natymike, that drug sounds just like what I need as I'm about to go to school full time. What are the common sides and how would it affect someone juicing or even using an eca stack????

I think I would be more concerned that it is a result of seizures....if you had a grande mal seizure it is possible that it harmed that portion of your brain...in which case, mixing drugs such as dilantin, antidepressents and others is not going to help....I am concerned about the cross mixing of drugs.

Laserdude,

My wife takes adderall and she can focus very well on it and do alot of things.

The drawbacks,

1. It is a narcotic so it is highly additctive.

2. Since you've had a stroke this may not be the medication for you since it is a fundmental form of speed!

Good luck with everything bro.

Effexor is a great med, so do give it a try. And you need to try it for about three months to evaluate it. A few weeks in insufficient.

mr. flaco---

the only side that I have noticed is that towards the end of one "tablet life" you tend to get depressed. Its like for 4 hours your in a great mood and can do anything, then for an hour you feel like shit and don't want to do anything, but the depression does not last long and you get over it.

I didn't take any adderol during my cycle just because I didn't know of any side effects. It was over the summer and I only had one class.

I do think it is could be addictive, my doc told me to take 2 per day, but shit I take probably 4-5 per week. I only take a pill when I need too. Sometimes before a workout, I have had the best workouts ever while on that drug.

Adderall if your health will allow it. You will be able to focus, and it kills the appetite in some. If you want to know more e-mail me as I have "too much" experience with it. I am 42 years old for the record.

Just be sure you can take it (health wise that is)!

later,

I Have add I am 30 yrs old it doesn't go away.you just can learn to cope with it as you get older .I am taking effexor also I have used many many many meds. and effexor is the best for me I read you post and it seems that you are not taking the timed release or your dosages are to small.
the timed release is called effexor xr and it last all day. it is a new med. and too me it is a completly different medication.
I couldn't stand the constant ups and downs from the regular effexor it came on too strong and the effects were not long enough.
the only sides I have is dry mouth but this went away and it has extended the time it takes me to orgasm which is a blessing for my new girl and makes me feel somewhat of a stud.
If you have more questions feel free to email me.....SAMM

LaserDude, Thanks for bringing this up. I am 29 yo and have always had problems concentrating and being organized. In HS I was a Major underachiever. With so many classes it was hard for me to focus on one subject very well. I noticed that when I went to nursing school I got much better grades even though it was a bitch because there werent alot of extraneous subjects to study.
I have been depresed for the past few years off and on and I notice when it gets bad I really have to try to be organized very hard at work
A freind gave me some Ritalin to try once and I couldnt believe how much better it made me feel. I was productive, organized and bright. I have no idea to go about seeing a doctor for ADD/ADHD seeing as that I am almost 30. I am an RN so being more organized and mentally sharper would be ideal.

I am 21yrs old, and I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 12. What alot of people do not realize is that to have ADD or ADHD you dont have to be some wild crazy kid, who is always moving and cannot set still. I have not a Hyper person, but my brain is. I know it is something that a lot of people cant understand, but is a day to day struggle for those of us that have it. These are the meds I have tried...

Ritalin **
Adderall ****
Concerta ***
Paxil **
Depakote *
Dexadrine
Prozac *** (I was just in a bubble though)
Xanax *****

If anyone ever needs to talk about all this shit, just E-Mail me. Or if you have a Question about one of the meds I have taken.
