One of my favorites is Black Hawk Down
Its about the Army Ranger battle in Somalia It kind of hits close to home because I was there with a Marine unit 2 months prior, excellant read.

As for WWII I'm currently reading the Battle of Kursk, excellent book with tons of detail and actual accounts form both sides.
