HEY MAN, HAD SOME DOBE QUESTIONS... MY OTHER DOBES EARS DID NOT STAND, SO I AM STILL NEW TO GOOD EAR JOBS... DID YOURS HAVE EARS CROPPED? LONG OR SHORT CUTS? WHAT AGE? DO YOU RECALL WHAT SIZE YOURS WERE AT SAY 6 WEEKS, AND 10 WEEKS?     | ||

any dobe i've had as a pup did not get its ears cropped...it's not that im that against it, i just like the way the natural lay looks...all adult dobes ive had were abuse cases, and usually had short cuts...the long cuts look the best (in my opinion) but not all ears will sustain it....make sure you get a reputable vet (ask the breeder where you got your pup)...ive seen some horrible cuts...they should stretch the skin somewhat before they cut the cartiledge so they have some excess to so back up..if not, you have a scar line that looks hideous....i think most get it done pretty young, then you splint tape to make the ears sit up... | ||

YA, MY OTHER ONE HAD A TERRIBLE CROP, IT WAS DONE 8 YEARS AGO, SO I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON... MY VET NOW RAISED DOBES FOR A WHILE, SO I LIKE HIM. HE HAS ROTS NOW, OH WELL. BUT HE SAID HE HAS DONE MANY MANY CROPS AND SHOWED SOME PICS. OF THEM. I AM LEANING TOWARDS A SHORT TO MEDIUM, I DONT LIKEE THE LONG SHOW CROP TOO MUCH. I HONESTLY LIKE THE LOOK OF A CROPPED EAR THAT ISNT STANDING, BUT THATS POINTLESS TO DO TO A DOG. MY VET WANTS TO WAIT TILL SHE IS 14 WEEKS... I WAS HOPING TO GET IT DONE SOONER, BUT HE SAYS AT 14 WEEKS HE KNOWS BEST WHAT CROP WILL STAND. |
