I am going to download zonealarm and try that as my firewall, since my pc is usually connect to the internet for hours and hours. Anyone ever tried zonealarm, pc magazine rates it pretty high.     | ||

I use Windows NT Proxy Server with IIS running. To test your Firewall, go to www.grc.com. Click on "Shields UP"  | ||

I use two. I have Norton Personal Firewall and Zonealarm. Zonealarm works surprisingly well for a free program. Its easy to use, and simple to set up. I set all the settings on High. Plus it stealths out your open ports so it doesn't look like theres not even a computer connected. | ||

I've got a nice little LinkSys NAT/router between my cable connection and computers. I much prefer hardware to software, but hardware firewalls are normally pretty expensive. This baby costs under $150 though. There are a few other similar devices on the market now. It has 4 LAN ports on it too, so it replaces the hub I had been using. I think you have to buy it. I seen it at the store under the name "Black Ice Defender" or somethung, like $20 for the product. you gotta check it out. |
