as you all know i work in the sanitation industry..i am also a student in college ...i have much seniority at my job..because i have been there 2 years ..more than anyother parttime worker there ...no when i say parttime worker i mean that i work 40 hours per week but i just dont get the benefits..or the pension deal going until i am considered fulltime..and that is a tough thing to do sometimes ...but i have the opportunity to become fulltime real soon ..because of my reputation at my job for being one of the top workers..and because i am involved politically.....my dilema is ..if i take the job..i will settle into my life ..i will never be rich..its virtually impossible....but i can lead a good life ..no doubt ...do you think i should take the job and the stability ....or should i saty in school and stive for bigger and better things....man this is one of the toughest choices i have ever had to make ....because i know i would rather not stay there for the next 30 years of my life..but the job is such a great job..i would almost be a fool to pass it up....i dont know ..i guess im just looking for some advice ....thanks bros and sisters

why would working full time limit your possibilities? I have two full time jobs!

Take the full time job, and be schemeing for the next big thing in your life.

Hey KB,

Taking this job DOES NOT limit you in any way. You limit yourself. It sounds like what you are concerned about is that you will lose the motivation to do these things if you settle into the job??

If it's good money, take the job, but take it with the attitude that, hey, I'm only going to do this for X months/years, and then I'm moving on. Stay in school and work the same as you have been.

There is nothing preventing you from quiting that job 2 months down the road! Don't loose those dreams... make them come true.

We've talked before.. what if I settled down in my first "profession"... and not looked upon ways of improving myself and my situation?

i see what your saying bro..but once i take the job and become fulltime ..if i quit ..2 months down the road..and my dreams fail..then what ..i left a great job..with great stability ...i mean....the job is so political that i could forget about ever getting the job back again

you understand what im saying

you can always work and then take classes at night. I mean, money is money, no matter where it comes from. Always scheme to get your hands on more. If you want to travel the world, stay in school and in the summer apply for a job as help on a cruise ship, or volunteer for an archealogy dig or volunteer to chaperone handicaps kids on trips.

Man there is always a way. One thing I love about my job is that I don't have to go to an office, I can work from home, or this past summer I worked for two months from a friends place in London.

kingbenny,
I would finish school no matter what. Any degree you get will only help you in any career you look for down the road. I worked for Club Med after college. Best thing I did. You actually get paid and laid for seeing the world, and you're in some of the most beautiful places you've ever seen. Don't settle. I was very good at the job I left over a year ago, and everyone said I was crazy. I'll probably make double what I was there in this next year, and my old boss actually offered me a 50% raise to come back after being gone for 6 months.
