Last night on the local news (Washington DC), they showed a line outside a Best Buy that had started forming at 4:00 pm *yesterday* to buy the thing when it went on sale this morning! The store had 150 of them and by the 11:00 news there were already like 120 in line to camp out overnight outside the store!!! | ||

Best Buy is getting a minimum of 62 units per store. Whereas places like KMart and WalMart are only getting around 5 a store. I'd say by now PS2 is completely sold out in US retail stores. ------------------ <\==T-Shirts Now ON SALE!==/> | ||

PS2 isn't very good, i don't see what the hype is about. it actually isn't that powerful of a system, just on paper. the only companies you will ever see get near the 20 million polygon mark are the absolute biggest: Square, EA, etc. most of the games don't even hold a candle to dreamcast games. xbox will blow it out of the water. will be easy to develop for, middleware is going to be widely available, and it should be capable of around 100 million polys with effects turned on. and to all you ppl who say its an unfair comparison because PS2 is already out and xbox isn't...well its hard to say PS2 is out, 90% of the people that want it can't get one. paper launch if you ask me... | ||

Dreamcast is okay. But PS2 looks much better. And if youre like me and all you play is sports games and fighting games, PS2 looks kick ass. But I'm gonna sell my PS2 on eBay in December and wait for XBOX and Gamecube to be released before I make my final decision. | ||

Im with ya Mr. H XBox will crush PS2 i believe.. it has a shit load of more power and incorporates Microsoft/ Intel's alliance tuff to beat.. Also ebay will be swamped a quick way to make a fast buck | ||

its not how much power you have but it is how you use it. if x box starts making nothing but starcraft and mechwarrior type games its gonna be weak. The ps2 was able to incorporate anti aliasing into its software because the hardware did not support it. And the x box may not last long because of the cost in manufactoring vs. the cost people would even pay for such a machine and microsoft will lower the price but may cut the life short due to a possible loss in prfit due to compitition. I lost my shot today. everyone is sold out so I was gonna rent one and I didn't get to get it because I have no credit card boo hoo. ------------------ | ||

I don't even think you'd be able to rent one. What's to stop someone from renting it and saying it was stolen or accidentally destroyed? He'd just have to pay for it. Voila a purchased PS2. The fact that X-Box will start out at over $500 makes me not want to buy it, plus look at it this way. The N64 is more powerful than a PS1, yet PS1 kicked its ass. Its all about the third party and the games you make. Also its always been whoever gets squaresoft wins the race. | ||

Austin316 we really do see eye to eye. I was going to make the same point on the specs thing. More power doesn't necessarily make a better system. And to get old school, the Sega Master system was more powerful the the NES, but NES reigned supreme. The same could be said for Atari 2600 and Intellivision. And most gamers aren't gonna pay $500 or more for a game system. Just ask the people who made the 3do or NEO GEO. ------------------ | ||

Actually, by the way it looks, Microsoft will make mostly its own games just like nintendo. Squaresoft is always exclusive to one system. Also, I don't know if other parties really want to get involve with Gates and his monopoly. If i want to spend 500-700 dollars on a microsoft product, Ill buy a new computer | ||

I played the PS2 and it scks I played every game out so far, and let me tell you the Dreamcast is better much better! PS2=big dissapointment and people are so gung ho about they should of loked at the reveiws from Japan it got shity ratings yet ppl will still buy it. PS2 does not impress me at all. Im definatly not gonna buy one. Ive read that a lot of games developers are dissapointed in the PS2, because they thought it would be more powerful. Id wait until all the hype calms down before thinking of buying one. Sony are just holding it back to raise peoples anticipation and sell more units. | ||

where are you guys getting this $500 dollar figure for the xbox's price? i would be willing to bet money that it will cost under $300. anyone who thinks xbox will not at least be a moderate success is forgetting M$ is just about the most powerful company in the world. if they want to succeed, they will. they are already buying up video game makers left and right. there were even reports they tried to buy squaresoft for over a billion dollars. | ||

How much is the Xbox going to cost? Microsoft has simply said that it will be competitively priced to similar console systems. If all goes according to plan, then, you can expect to see the system somewhere in the $300 range. xbox.ign.com sources don't get more reliable than that. | ||

I guess I'm out of the loop on this one. I still play Super Nintendo and regualr Nintendo. I haven't seen a game on any system better than Ghosts and Goblins or Gauntlet for NES, or NBA JAM on Super NES. Madden 95 - that does it for me. And I like NBA Live on PS1. I'll wait for Xbox. | ||

some of those old games were the best. i don't know if it was the fact that i was just a little kid or what but i had the most fun of my life on the NES and SNES. of the last group of systems N64 was my favorite because the 4 player games kicked ass (super smash bros, goldeneye, etc.) watch out for the nintendo gamecube, its gonna be great and supposed to come out with around a $150 price tag. | ||

fn, blockbuster has ps2 units and they want a $200 deposit and the ps2 kicks ass by the way to those anti ps2 guys. tekken tag and timesplitters all the way and when gt3 comes out...dreamcast my ass. ------------------ | ||

I really don't see a major difference in graphics between DC and PS2. Maybe I was expecting too much. I was expecting something that would blow away DC- I saw something that has a slight edge. | ||

its not the graphics that ps2 blows dc out with. both are based on 128bit hardware. the ps2 may shell out a better polygon but what they have said is a lie. they claim it is around 25m or something, a game can only shell out about 3m/sec to run smooth but it is still nice. you have to play both deeply to get to know the advantages though. looking at pics means nothing. ------------------ | ||

Don't Dreamcast now has 2nd generation games while the PS2 how launch title. Games look better on every system as time goes because progammers figure out the hardware more. ------------------ |
