Well - it makes no difference economically anyway. That's right - Bush, Gore, whoever -nothing will change. Why? Because 90% of our federal budget is locked in from year to year, and the remaining 10% won't affect us too much no matter how it;s used. Six major programs lock in 75% of the budget each year. The next 15% is shared by many smaller but equally fixed programs. The BIG SIX: Social Security: This shit uses $403billion dollars each year. $403,000,000,000. That's a lot. Defense: $294billion. Debt servicing (interest, etc on national debt): $230 billion Medicare: $199billion Federal pensions: $79billion So what exactly can we do about this? Matt

Government will stay big, but how big and how intrusive is another matter. It does matter. If for nothing else, Bush will restore honor and dignity to the White House. Vote Bush. ------------------

Eliminating Social Security sounds like an idea to me. Your "security" after your retirement is YOUR business, NOT mine. Why should I pay for your "security?" Because you're too incompetent to handle it yourself? When I retire, I'll be using my social security checks for my kids' allowances or something. Maybe I'll use it to wipe my ass. Eliminate Social Security, add a few billion to Defense, start a program for space exploration and the government gets a B+ in my book. -Warik

We had to do one of those match-a-candidate tests in history class today. I think it was pretty much summed into 2 questions that decided who you were for w/ a bunch of others just for good measure. One was are your pro-choice or pro-life. I'm pro-life w/ the extreme exceptions such as rape victims. The other was are you in favor of the death penalty. Yes. So I got matched w/ Bush as my candidate. ------------------

Justin, Good point about the Justices. But it is also true that justices will die on the bench rather than retire when the President will nominate a replacement with contrary views. For example: Justin - I also stated that ECONOMICALLY it makes no difference.

If Bush wins I'll hate the VP w/ a passion. I hate Cheney now too. Everyone in my family does cause he had a hand in shutting down the Philly Navy Yard. He put alot of people out of work. ------------------

Rex bro, did you ever consider that the naval yard that was shut down was being paid for with tax dollars? It is unfortuanate that people lost their jobs, but if you believe in less government and less taxation, then you cannot support endless govenment programs that are funded through taxation. Only through less government programs can we ever hope to have less taxation. If you support "endless" government programs, you must also support endless taxes. |
