Dirk, Democrat Senators have come and gone, and the problems that plague the black community have not changed. I wish some black leaders could explain to me why they would vote for her. I don't get it, and as a New Yorker I am watching this race closely. Hillary is getting over 90% of the black vote. It's the only thing keeping the race close. Can someone explain this?  | ||

Republicans have been successfully stereotyped. What's even worse is that they were greater supporters of Johnson's Civil Rights Act than the Democrats were. Part of the perception comes from the media. Repubicans have recently been linked with the status quo. Against change...against "the great society." In addition to that, they failed to make their case (or have it heard) for their history and the future that they saw for minorities in this country. Plus, hate groups are associated with right wing politics. And there we go back to the stereotyping used by the Democrats to secure this voting base. Democrats use hate and fear to keep many minorities voting for them. Thanks to a liberal media, they are not called on these tactics. Anyone remember 1998's Louisiana congressional ads that basically said that if Republicans were elected black churches would burn? It serves Democrats to keep minorities poorer and angry, to keep them as dependent as possible on the government. The fewer that are, the more likely it is they may vote Republican...and they just can't have that. ------------------ | ||
