Anyone know if this comes with a DTS decoder?

Or the outputs that give it the capability of that?

It comes with component video outputs and optical out sockets. Cables not included. It come with regular AV cables. You'd also have to buy a DTS decoder.

Damn DTS decoders!

I got a good surround sound package with receiver on BUY.com a while ago for really cheap- Is the difference between DTS and no DTS really that big?

What does DTS offer that DOlby Digital doesn't?

DTS is a computer enhanced sound. Now is it worthy it. I guess that depends. For me it's isn't because I rather spend my money other things but it will sound better no question. A dolby stero is good enough for me now.

With DTS the sound isn't compressed the same way it is with DD, but you aren't going to hear a difference unless you have an extreemly high end system. Its not worth it in my book. I like DD better anyway.

The new Playstation is compatible with Dolby Digital, Dts, DolbyDigital Ex, and Dts 6.1 surround. You will need a processor that has these capabilities. As far as Dts and Dolby Digital goes there is usually more compression in Dolby Digital than in Dts. Dts also usually bolsters the sound in the Lfe channel (subwoofer), and surround channels by 3dbs. Some say this sounds better but it is all a matter of personal taste. Both formats do sound consideralbly better than the old Pro Logic. As far as Dvd's go typically the Dts versions have less supplemental material than the Dolby Digital versions due to the higher space needed for the Dts signal. I hope this information helps.
