I have a few questions that require some insight on cloning... 1. If you were to clone a human would it be an exact copy, or almost exact copy? Just some stupid brainstorming...but think of the ramifications human cloning will have on religious beliefs. Not just the cloning of Jesus...highly unlikely...but the origin or the soul or lack there of. PS - Someone put the commands in a reply and explain to me how to load my signature...I have tried. I have a signature downloaded to my hard drive, and loaded in html on Homestead.com, but I am not sure what I am doing wrong trying to load it to this site. Thanks!    | ||

This is a touchy subject for many theologians and it's unfortunate that The Steel beast doesn't believe we have souls. Anyway, if you do happen to belive we have souls then if identical twins have souls so would a clone, although unethical. As far as sharing the same brain that would be true, however it's our one personal expiences that creates the majority of our brain.Although it may have some effect on certian choices and predisposition for some psychological faults. I'm not a nueroligist but just my opinion. | ||

Twins have souls...ok, but they are two different people who share similar traits. Clones are the same person. If the sould does exist thenI don't think an original and a copy can share the same soul, and I don't think that a copy would just HAVE a soul. The brain thing...Our memories are consequence of environmental experiences...ok, but if the copy has the same brain as the original - and DNA correlates to age (the brain in the original is the same age as the copy) then why wouldn't they share the same memories? Electrical impulses stimulate parts of the brain to activate memory...why would the copy with the same brain as the original not have the same memory when and if those same parts of the brain were stimulated by the same electrical impulses? | ||

Steel beast,it apears you friend does indeed possess some prestigious credentials. Celt if i have a scar obtained when i was a kid do you think my clone will also have the same scar? | ||

I don't know, of course, but my guess would be no. Your DNA carries the genes to duplicate your body, organs, blood, etc. Your scar would be the result of some experience, not specific to your DNA. I would argue, mainly because I am interested, that your clone would have the memory of recking on your bike, because the brains would have developed and retained the same memories (for lack of a more technical term). |
