Well, me and my partner were getting tired, it was around 10pm in Wichita and we were heading west on Harry just west of Oliver. When I said, we need a chase, and my partner said yep we need a good chase. So, this truck pulls out in front of us and starts speeding. I said let's pull that truck over. I also said lets wait and see what he does next. After he goes through an intersection we flip on the lights and I start entering info into the computer. All of sudden he decides he is not going to stop and drives down a hill from the Angelo's parking lot, starts heading back east on Harry at a high rate of speed. About 80 plus in a 35 zone. He goes into opposite lane of traffic, runs a light turns south on to Mt Vernon, goes up onto the side walk between a tree and a sign, then continues on south at 80 plus mph. He starts throwing evidence out the window and is rapidly approaching the end of the road. It t's with George Washington Blvd. There is a house at the end of the road as well. I tell my partner that he is not going to make it and he agrees. The guy starts to skid and turn realizes he won't make it, opens the driver's door and jumps out at 40 mph. He bounces off the pavement and a trash can, the truck hits the curb, I thought it was going to squish him, but it missed. The truck then carrines of two vehicles and the gate to the guys house stopping just short of the garage. The driver gets up and takes off on foot, my partner tried to hit him with the squad car, but the freak avoided it. I then jumped out of the car and chased old homie down. As I was catching up to him, I yelled, stop or I'll fucking shoot! Now, they never stop when you say that and this boy did! I took him to the ground (he got a glock imprint on his back of the barrel and frame). He starts screaming my hand is broken, I told him to shut the fuck up and cuffed him. I then had a half dozen other officers show up to help me. Woo Hoo! What a rush!! He hit the ground so hard his shoes were stripped from his feet, you'll see that in the video. When we got to the hospital, the doctor proceeded to check him over and when he took his socks off he had on purple toe nail polish. I asked him why he ran from us and he said "the little voices in his head said go, go ,go... so I did" We booked him on 7 felonies I believe and several misdemeanors and about 15 traffic violations. Now what pisses me off is that, after endangering our lives (not that we minded the car chase) endangering the lives of innocent bystanders, and causing a ton of damage, the judge gave him 6 month suspended sentence and a 500 dollar fine out of what should have been minimum 10-20 years in jail and over 50,000 dollars in fines. And this was the fifth time he had run from the law. Go figure. | ||

Chesty, I am unsure. do you possess the tape now or are you trying to get it back to make a copy? It sounds like a great " VEHICLE FAILING TO STOP", chase is a lawyers fav word. I bet that show, in the line of duty would love that tape. As would I. | ||

My sister hates chases. That is why she got transfered to the K9 unit. Now she just opens the door. Big Bertha does the rest. It is cool, I will meet my sister in town for lunch and Big Bertha will be in the back, whimpering wanting to get out an "exercise" | ||

Doesn't matter whether I was on or did use steroids, they were breaking the law and we nabbed them. I sure as hell ain't gonna turn myself in anyway. And if I had been caught doing something wrong the penalties are worse for a cop. The tape was suppposed to be on Real Tv I believe. No, it is not evidence per say any more since the case has been settled. Yes, I am trying to get my partner to make a copy of it for me. |
