It was my understanding that Klinton was the first to win the office without a majority of the vote. | ||

I believe you are right. He didn't have the popular vote won, which is the count of who we as individuals voted for. He was elected purely by the media and the electoral college. | ||

92' Clinton had the Majority. One of the two Regan Terms was also a majority vote. | ||

He may have had the majority, but he still had less than 50%, and it is the electoral college votes that really count, you can win a shitload of smaller states, but win enough of the big ones and you win the whole deal. Not too mention too that we could all vote for one person and the electoral college can vote for someone else and elect them to president. Will it cause an uproar sure it would, but what could be done, it is within the rules of the election. | ||

Chesty, that has happened before where the candidate with the majority vote lost the election because of the electoral college: Hayes, 1886 and Harrison 1888. The Kennedy/Nixon Election was one of the closest in history actually, decided under 100,000 votes. ------------------ | ||

In 1992 the actual vote was: Clinton 43%, Bush 38%, Perot 19% thanks to perot this was the beginning of the clintonista regime | ||
