Is there some tax benefits? I make around 100K a year, and I pay a hell of an amount of taxes as a single guy. Or is being married just a title?      | ||

I think that taxes are actually harder on married couples who have two incomes. Our govenment doesn't want you to live in sin, but taxes you for being married. How fucked up is that? ------------------ | ||

there are actually a lot of tax advantages, I don't know many of them but Ive heard it sai before. I know that car insurance goes way down | ||

You would pay about the same for being married. Instead of the standard deduction for being head of household which is around 4500 bucks or something you would get 6500 for being married. Or whatever it is these days. Now where you would really save money is by owning a house and having student loans your paying on. Then you get to deduct the interest and that is almost always more than the standard deduction. So, by a house, you can sell it if you don't like it. A wife is for keeps and the courts look dimmly upon you if you decide to trade in for a new model. So, no advantage to being married, it don't even garuantee you will get sex any more. | ||

There is actually a penalty for married couples with two incomes in the tax system as it stands today. So Johnny you are financially better of living together and staying "single". I always never understood that once you get married sex slows down. I mean when I moved in with my boyfriend it was soo much more convienient, when you live with someone that the numbers just naturally go up. I would think that would be the same with marriage...although I can understand with kids that creats less time availability...but how much times do you really need baby/  | ||

Must be directed towards me. Well, it is like this, you become used to it. It becomes a routine, the first couple of years or so is great, but then it is like getting up and going to work. It is expected. There is no longer any challange to it. If you play hard to get the other spouse gets pissed at you, there are just so many things that happen that it really is hard to explain. Think about why there are so many extra-marital affairs in this country and abroad. Especially by the most innocent looking couples. For women, if they do not percieve they are getting the emmotional support and care from there spouse/boyfriend they will start looking for that elsewhere, for guys it is the same, plus both are looking for that excitement again, like the first time, or the fact of getting caught can really heighten the sexual experience, especially if getting caught by the police or the spouse is a high possibility. The short of it is, the excitement dies down, it becomes routine, it is a sevice that is expected because of marriage,... | ||

That is exactly right Ms. Shagwell. That is why one or the other partner usually ends up looking else where. It isn't anything we do, we just sometimes end up with someone who needs much less than us and in return gives much less to us than we need. When you date and such, you tend to overlook the bad things, (the things that normally would piss you off or make you go hmmmm) it is human nature. On a rare ocassion, two people meet that can always give the other person more than what they need. Take the hot out of hot sauce and you just got sauce (yeah, okay it was stupid, but you get the point) That is what happened to me. She just figured if I wanted it I would ask. When I did get it she just laid there like a corpse. No sound, no movement, are you done yet, hurry up I'm tired, etc... | ||

I agree with you Wodin.. i'm attached and currently living with someone for 11 years now, and I couldn't imaging being by myself .. but of course we're not married. However we're cool to have 3 ways and mess around if we're careful not to get emotionally involved. | ||

Guys chesty is right her. Take any old tax table from the past ten years if you like and measure the curves that occur in each tax bracket. There is an accelerated curve before the 15 -28% range for married people, that is the marraige penalty. Plus JohnnyO I fully support the right of same sex marragies just to let you know. ------------------ |
