i was doing deadlifts about 4 weeks ago and i did them incorectly and my back has gone into deep spasm. my doctor thinks it could be a slipped disk, im going for an mri next week. has this ever happened to any of you? and how long will it take to recover from a sliped disk?

Hi, in what part of the back you feel the pain? How did you do the DLs incorrectly? I usually have some feeling in my back just above the ass after doing deadlifts.

dude right now im in an extreem ammount of pain . after i deadlifted the weight i tried to swing it up and press it over my head. it was a bad move cause i guess somthing snaped in my back. so for the last 4 weeks i havnt been able to lift at all. the pain is in the upper and lower back. im really hopeing its just a badly pulled muscle, cause i dont wanna have to go through surgery. the doctor told me if it is a disk thats ruptured i have to lay off weights for 6 goddamn months

Glen isolate the pain location through movement. Move around a bit and find were the pain spikes. That is your soure point in your back. Irregardless of upper or lower you may need minor surger to repair a seriously torn muscle. Sometimes docs can force the disk back in place if it isn't too far out of alignment so I hope thats it.

Peace bro and take care.

I slipped a disk a couple of times. It usually takes a week or two to go back into place, once the swelling goes down. If you rupture a nerve, then you could be on the shelf for months and may need surgery.

I can't say this enough strong abbs lead to a strong back, If one muscle group dominates by a large margin you can expect injuries plain and simple.

Note: Alot of back pain can also be attributed to the overuse of a weight-belt. Wearing a weight-belt around the gym to make a fashion statement, is common mistake and lead to weakening of the Erector spinae, intra abdominal oblique, lower portions of the Latissimus dori, and various other smaller muscle groups surrounding the spine.

I'm not saying using a belt is a bad idea, but use it with your heavier weight to add stability and protection.
