Someone brought this up the other day and I just watched a History Channel Docutainment show on them. Fairly cool show with some of the orignal memebers of the founding group and they related some of their experiences in Vietnam.

One guy says.. I will give you a definition of pain. I'm in the bush and I get shot in the hand..I look down at my hand which is basically hamburger at this point and I see the bullet sticking through the back. We'll we all saw John Wayne as a kid pulling arrows out of his chest. I thought if John Wayne can do it so can I. Appaerantly my vision wasn't so good because I the back of my hand in my mouth, clinch my teeth down on what I thought was the bullet and pulled. Turns out it was a bone in my hand. At that precise instant my toes curled....

This guy is like a Lt. Col or something now in the Navy and runs the seal program. Plus he laughed when he told it. These guys are just either plane stupid or the baddest mofo's on the planet!

Plus they had Rudy from Survivor on their too! RUDY! RUDY!

Anyway check THC out because they re-run these things all the time.

FYI Seals were commissiond 1-10-62 by JFK. From 1972 - 1974 Nixon tried to eliminate them by cutting their funding.

I'm glad to see there are other people who love the SEALs. Yep i'm leaving for the navy after college, and i'm going to BUDS. Thats the only way i'm going to the navy. But I emailed Marauder and i'm waiting for a response. Last i heard, he was still getting ready for BUDS. So maybe he is there. I hope he makes it.
But chesty, do you honestly think Force recon is a step above? I mean, i believe they are both damn good, but saying one is better is hard to say. But my uncle is about to go to recon in about 6mon. I've talk to several SEALs about BUDS, and i know its one of the hardest schools out there. But my info on Force recon is limited. But i would appreciate if you can explain why you think recon is better. Thanks bro, Damn i can't wait until i join the Navy....... What day did that SEALs program come on? and it was on TLC right?

bsjohnson, look for "Time Machine: Complete History of the U.S. Navy Seals" on The History Channel. I think that is the program that he was talking about. You can buy it if you want from the website http://store.aetv.com.

Thanks guys. Benny thanks for the advice. I have 2years to prepare mentally, and pysically. I also talk to Marauder, about training and what supplements he was taking. I think my girlfriend understands, that my attention will have to be devoted to BUDS. But she still wants to get married. So i'm for that. Any other opinions about being a SEAL and being married.

Hey edge, i'm glad i'm not the only one in this situation. Yep, i know how long i can be gone far, but i tried to tell that to my g/f, but i dont' think see relizes it. She keeps saying how here friends in the Marines, or regular navy get time off,ect... I told her that SEALs,and other SF. are different. But i have made my mind up, i will go into the Navy and then BUDS. But i also love my g/f thats why i'm trying to see if anyone as any insight on being married while on the Teams. Just like benny said you can't let anyone get in your way. So thats how i'm looking at it. Hey edge i'm going to drop you an email later on today.

I got mad respect for those guys.
Every single one of them is a killing
machine.
From waht I've seen on the documentary and read elsewhere, I feel I have the physical and mental capabilities of becoming a SEAL,
however the desire is just not there.
Maybe in the next life.

hey bro..incase you didnt know this already..

some of the requirments youll need to have to get into buds are this

atleast a 51 on the asvab
under 28

you must be able to pass a physical fitness test..that is ridiculous

got to a navy recruiter and ask him to show you the physical fitness aspect of even getting into buds..

you have to swim a few miles run a few miles ...do a certain number of sit ups and push ups in a minute..do atleast 6 pull up...not chin ups..after all else ....you haver to do these in a certain sequence...there are a few more things ..but i forgot them....im stil considering going in..but i might wait until after i get my bachelors degree

we shall see...if you wanna bs...drop me a line

I think the reason that Chesty is touting Force Recon is that he is a Marine.

I have a friend who just passed through BUDs a few months ago. Hoemboy was a machine. The shit I saw him do before he went in was insane. Not a big kid, just a tough motherfucker. His only advice was that, if you're confident in your fitness, it will be harder for them to fuck with your mind.

If you guys do go SEALs, good luck. I'd definitely be proud to serve with you.

My brother is in BUDS right now. He is 31 years old now and usally the cut off is 28 I think. But anyway his times in the run and swim and reps in pushups situps and pullup to just get in were all harder. Plus he had to get some special letter from one of his commanders in the Marine Core. All special forces guys are bad mofos not just seal and recon.

I am an ex Army Ranger. I have an uncle who is an ex Navy Seal. He was in Vietman as a seal. There were 173 candidates in his class and only 3 finished the program. He and two other guys. He told me it was "hard". After Vietnam he left the Navy and join the Army. This crazy mofo became a Ranger,Special Forces and the Toughest of the all, Delta Force. He said that was the "Hardest" thing he ever had done. DF is the toughest, but all of them are hard. If anyone plans on joining any of these teams I really hope you are up for it. You can't just join these teams you have to earn the right to be a part of something special. Once you have passed all the test (and hopefully you are excepted into the school) then the journey begin. Physically most who are excepted will make it. Mentally 25% will fail within the first 3 weeks. You must learn to train your mind as well as your body, if not harder.

Good Luck

Anybody ever read the book Blackhawk Down. ITs about the Rangers Delta Force and Seals that were in Somilia. Its a bad ass book, them Snipers that jump out of the chopper to protect a couple of downed piolts knowing that they have just singed there own death. Talk about balls the size of church bells.
Its a really good book check it out if your into millitary battles
