Chat & Conversation On Jarhead intelligence

To answer a question about jarheads, I am posting some pretty deep shit, intellectually any way. I figure that the average person here, despite there sometimes less than g rating talk are quite intelligent. I hold one BS in Aerospace engineering, and two minors one math, the other physics. I live by myself and have no one to talk to about such things as I have posted. At work, most people have no clue or desire to discuss these things. Engineers can be a real drag. No, I am not on the computer 24/7, I just use an RS6000 at work all day, running analysis software for the 777. So, in between I type and read. I know it is contrary to popular belief, but Marines due have a brain, and in this case me, at least I like to think I do. I figure why not engage in some more meaningful conversation here, I mean how many times can we talk about shoving someones dick into a Llama, or sperm gurgling or some other weird shit like that, like I pissed on my boyfriend. That is so depraving it is unbelievable. Okay, I had my speel, later on I will post my feelings on kids and seatbelts and supervision.

I wouldnt say most Marines are dumb, brainwashed maybe, but not dumb. They really do build you guys up in boot. Its kind of funny because some of the biggest nancy boys I knew went to Paris Island and they came back nancy boys who thought they were Mike Tyson. The funniest thing in the world is a 110lbs guy who thinks he can take out the whole bar! Now dont get me wrong, I know a bunch of bad ass Marines that can pull more than their own weight. But some of these guys that get out of boot act like their WWII vets!

That is the idea. We don't have an attitude, we're just that good! I know what you mean. When I got out I weighed 160, went back to my highschool and all the bully's who used to pick on me were calling me sir, it is an image thing. I couldn't fight my way out of a wet paper sack, but I tell you what that day, I thought I could take on the world. But we need that attitude to survive combat and come home.

Contrary to Chestys experience Most Marines I met while was in the suck were idiots, yes they could navigate, read a map, shoot straight and that kind of thing, but the majority were immature and lacked emotional discipline of a true warrior. Ive seen a lot of Marines get fucked up royally from booze and by relationships with women and it cost them their careers. Only when I left my regular infantry battalion and trained with and became part of an elite cadre of Marine warriors did I see (IMHO) the best and brightest that the human race has to offer. For me the Marine Corps was a place I could take out the aggressions of youth in a sanctioned fashion on foreigners.

I know alot of smart Marines. Shit you have to have respect for em even if some are dumbshits, they are defending the country. The best infintry in the world. My brother was a Marine now he is in B.U.D.S. and I think he is a smart person. He is brainwashed like all Marines I know. Of course they brainwash them they have to make em crazy so they will kill anybody with one order. ------------------

Chesty - I made a comment regarding jarheads on one of your posts and didn't mean any disrespect. I spent four years on active duty in the Marines in the early 80's and just use jarhead as a term of endearment.

Well, I did my time as an Army Ranger and I will tell you that most of the people I encountered in the military were pretty dumb. I was an officer (don't hate me for it, Chesty and others) so I was in charge of some guys that did some really dumb shit, and I handled a lot of moron-generated problems. Marines...we trained with them quite a bit, as well as SEALs and SF guys and even some Delta Force. All of them were very professional. Every Marine I ever worked with was brainwashed, but if you told him to do something he would get it done or die trying. But I wouldn't give them a math problem. No offense - just my experience. brainwashed is the word that keeps popping up. yes, it happens, but this "majority" that everyone speaks of i saw them. they were called boots or lifers. the majority of what most call brainwashed is just a good marine following procedure. there are many of those if most of you recall. instant obedience to orders is what makes a leader and his team work, if it requires a bit of "brainwashing" then so be it. thats why we are the best at what we do. marines are taught to obey orders, but at the same time, if it is necessary to lead they can do that as well. now dont get me wrong...there is that 10%. they tend to shine at the worst of times for the corps and all outsiders looking in. im being sarcastic. but all in all, we are still the best fighting force in the world. as for an officers slant on enlisted...brainwashing takes place there too in OCS. an elitest view is always instilled in the "O"s as it is, so of course they wont be allowed to trust someone else to "do a math problem". hehe. peace ------------------

I take no offense at the term Jarhead, I earned that title, very few can be called something like that and take it as a compliment. Naw, I don't hate you there Matt, I was going to be one too until my first ex got involved, (bitch), I wouldn't give a math problem either to 75% of the Marines either. This post was just in response to some disbelief that a Marine could come up with some of the intellectual shit I have.

I had a cousin who was a marine...He was in the Corp at A&M and left cause he felt that Desert storm was his generations chance to fight...Go figure...I think his dads world war 2 and Korea stories contributed to it...He came back in pretty good shape so I thought... Faimly storry has been that he was involved with capturing some guys and ended up getting in a fight with one and killed him... Last time I talked to him a few years back he wasn't to pleased with Uncle Sam cause he felt something happened to him there that has made him sick off and on...Same thing happened to my other cousin... Any of you that were there belive all the claims of the vets getting sick from there?

I believe them 100%, some of my friends who fought, didn't get anything though. I think it may have been a chemical or biological attack from Hussein against us.

Yes there are some dumb Marines and hell thats just an American thing to be narrow minded but the Marine I worked with in Recon where some of the best and most trusted people I've ever dealt with you see I was a Crypto person in Recon and had the oppertunity to train with seals and rangers we were all the best at what we do and together we can't be stopped SEMPER FI ------------------

You know what's funny? The Marines have the highest minimum required asvab score to get in, 45 I believe vs 30 for the other three services(I think those are the correct numbers) As for the asvab I scored a 94 out of a possible 98 total points, not to mention my degrees and the work I do as an Engineer. Oh yeah, I can shoot at 1000 yards nailing a pop can on a routine basis if need be. The army can't touch that on a regular basis. Chesty sorry to inform you Bro you are wrong!!!! Minimum Requirements are as follows.. Air Force afqt 40 )they can give exceptions for a 37) US Navy Afqt 27 USMC 31 for H.S seniors and grads US Army 31 for grads and 50 for H.S Seniors..
the navy also does.. the Army can take a minor felony with an exception the Air force cannot..

That is strange, since several of my friends are recruiters, and the Army takes em with ged's the Marines won't. The army does take felonies, the marines will not allow any conviction of any kind except for traffic tickets and I will get the numbers and verify them from one of my friends and even cite the document they came from. I did spend a year in the Army after I got out of the Marines, since there was no combat unit in my area for Marines, I took the army. They were a joke, one guy didn't even know how to dissassemble his M16 and he had been in for five years. Most couldn't pass their own pft, and the kicker was they had no discipline at all. So I quit. The Marines are the hardest to get into, the hardest boot camp in the world and why are we bagging on the Marines anyway? Someday you will need us and we will be there. chesty

Bro trust me i run Recruiting operations for the Army in Orlando...I am just giving you facts and here they are.. All branches including the Air Force Have exceptions for GEDS..its mandated by congress..in 1998 the us Army Regulation 601-210 eliminated the army taking felons we will make exceptions depending on what he has done with his life I.E college.. I am telling we all tell the kids if all else fails you can be a Marine...I am sorry to tell you.. I would have never believed it either until took over this job but it is true... i didnt want to taint your corp but these are the Facts bro.... Each branch can make exceptions but the corp is hurting in recruiting so bad the have to...

Well, I have heard that the Marine hire ups didn't like what they were being ask to do with getting new Marines in, but I never would have believed it. I know when I was in you couldn't even join if you had one child and needed a waiver if you were married. I had to get one for being married. Well, can't argue with your facts. It still don't change what I actually experienced while in the army. So, I'll let it go at that.

that was the reserves they Suck...yes the discipline is lacking in the Army thats the one thing i give to the corp... I have always been in Infantry and Special Ops..... i am now running this recruiting shit and i see soldiers from all fields and they piss me off there is nothing like a grunt or ranger.... i do give the corp 1 thing pride and es pirit de corp is high...... no flame bro just facts i go thru this daily with me marine counterpart in my office he is an e-8 and me and him have a good time together but we argue like this all the time..

Yeah, I get into it all the time, there will never be an end to it just like the Marines belonging to the Navy argument. Well, I can't argue anymore my gomer pyle is worn out. Like I said in the other post, if we were in a bar I think the Marines and the Army would be going at it for bragging rights. Just like old times on the Rock (Okinawa) chow my friend. |
