Do you donate money to this group? --------------- http://www.all.org/issues/pp04a.htm The Pivot of Civilization Throughout the 200+ pages of this book Sanger called for the elimination of "human weeds," for the cessation of charity, for the segregation of "morons, misfits, and maladjusted," and for the sterilization of "genetically inferior races."[4] In this same book she argued that organized attempts to help the poor were the "surest sign that our civilization has bred, is breeding, and is perpetuating . . . defectives, delinquents, and dependents."[5] She called for coercive sterilization, mandatory segregation, and rehabilitative concentration camps for all inferior Blacks, Hispanics, poor Whites, and Catholics. Sanger's brand of prejudice was based on what author John L. Keller labels "Scientific Racism," the belief that as long as people demonstrated "a good quality gene pool" they were esteemed a valuable part of society. On the other hand, if a group, including Whites, demonstrated undesirable traits, their fertility had to be curbed along with other "inferiors and undesirables."[6] George Grant stated in Grand Illusions: "In her book Women and the New Race she asserted that the 'most merciful thing a large family can do to one of its infant members is to kill it.'"[7] Minorities ------------------

Bro, I hate to burst your bubble, but most American and European intellectuals in the 19th century and the first half of 20th century were hardcore racists. It was only after WWII that it became unfashionable to be a white supremacist (for obvious reasons). So don't buy VWs, 'cause they're Nazi cars (no, they really are: in German "Volkswagen" means "the Car for the Race"); don't shop at IKEA (the founder was a Swedish industrialist who supported Hitler); don't ever buy a Ford (well, I hope you know the connection); and finally don't even think about getting some cool threads made by Hugo Boss,'cause they were responsible for outfitting both the Gestapo and the SS during WWII. Where should we draw the line? What's in the past cannot be changed, but institutions, companies, and organizations change with the times to accommodate new political trends. Therefore, Planned Parenthood today is not what it was in the 1930's. [This message has been edited by Stumpy (edited September 29, 2000).]

Don't fret, Stumpy, you haven't burst any bubbles. I know the history of most of the companies you mentioned (esp. Ford). What's different about PP is the fact that they are continuing the exact mission of Sanger: killing babies. |
