GOD NO... SIMPLE CRATE HELP WILL DO... IVE TRAINED OTHER DOGS IN BASIC OBEDIENCE, THIS ONE I MAY TRAIN A LITTLE MORE SERIOUSLY, BUT NOT MUCH... PET ONLY. | ||

In that case any good book on Dobie's will do. Look at Barnes and Noble. If you are dedicated you will be rewarded. I get my brindle Great Dane on christmas eve, can't wait. | ||

I trained my rotts the same way I've trained other dogs, they are just a little more stubborn. I use a can of pennies to scold em when the mess up, and use a crate also. Congrats on the dog ------------------ | ||

I got a fully trained lab. he is awesome, but getting older and his hips are not what they used to be. he limps after a lot of excercies. anyway, i went to dog training school and i can train most any dog, i have trained a few for friends. the most important thing to remember is that the dog does not know any bad habits. it tries things and depending upon what happens may or may not do again. also, as the dog gets older it will be less likely to get into things mischevious. so, use the crate and do not let the dog cry, destroy rugs, urinate etc. while in the crate. the dog should like the crate and understand that it should be quiet while in the crate and left alone. also, the dog needs to learn, SIT, SIT-STAY, DOWN, DOWN STAY, HEEL and COME right now. COME is the most important and you should go outside with the dog on a leash and get him to follow you around and get used to sticking with you at all times. i call it the game. the dog should prefer to watch you and be around over anything else! good luck with the dobie, sounds like a beauty! | ||

Look into Schutzhund training, i think that's how you spell it, if you have a dobe don't let it go to waste, you've got the best dog there on your hands, intelligent as fuck you have to be strict like hell with it, give it an inch and your dog is gone. That doens't mean beat it or anything, just be strict and consistent with it, always!!!! There is no just one time with a dobe. Have fun!! ------------------ | ||

YES, SHE IS MY SECOND DOBE.. MY OTHER ONE WAS A BABY... BUT WHEN IT CAME DOWN TO IT SHE TOOK CONTROL  I LOVED IT WHEN MY MOM WOULD JOG AND THE DOG WOULD GO ALONG, I FELT LIKE NOBODY COULD BOTHER HER, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT WAS AT NIGHT... THAT DOG WAS VERY SWEET, UNTIL A STRANGER OR TWO CAME TO THE CAR OR HOUSE... THEN SHE WAS VERY VERY INSTINCTIVE TO PROTECT HER HOUSE... SHE ROCKED. THIS ONE IS ALSO GONNA BE A LITTLE SWEETIE, BUT... I WANT HER HOUSE TRAINED FAST AND CRATE TRAINED EVEN FASTER.. SHE HATES THE CRATE NOW, SO I AM STARTING TO FEED HER AND WATER HER IN THE CRATE, ALSO THROUGH SOME CLOTHES OF MINE IN THERE SO SHE WOULD SMELL ME AND THINK ITS SAFE... SHE WAS THERE FOR AN HOUR OR SO LAST NIGHT WITHOUT A SOUND, THEN I WOKE HER UP ON ACCIDENT AND IT WAS PLAY TIME ITS FUNNY SEEING A BABY PUP ACT LIKE A BIG DOG. SHE GETS IN THAT ATTENTIVE DOBE STANCE WITH THE HIND LEGS BACK A LITTLE AND ALL PERKED UP IN THE HEAD.. FUNNY AS HELL. MY DOBE BOOK WAS SHITTY... TIME TO GET A GENERAL TRAINING GUIDE... I DIDNT LIKE THE OBEDIENCE TRAINING I PUT THE OTHER ONE THROUGH, TOO EASY WAY TOO EASY FOR A DOBE. |
