Although I'm a football fan above all else...I'd have to say that basketball pro athletes are the most physically sound (EI. AEROBIC, ANDAEROBIC) of all athletes..... P.S. any one see Warren Sapp yesterday...is he getting bigger (Fatter) or what?

Yeah I agree, basketball players have the speed, strength, quickness, and awesome coordination. Great athletes. I used to play before I started lifting. Now Im a big monkey who can barely run a mile.

Hockey players are pretty intense. Good shape and damn good hand-eye coordination.

Curling! You ever see that Shit! Whisking that broom is damn hard work! Bacci Ball Players..gotta keep them flabby arms from hitting their flabby sides to keep the ball going straight! Seriously: During my time as a college wrestler I was in the best shape of my life. I could run 15 miles then kick your ass!

I would go with wrestling first, then football. I got my ribs dislocated by my wrestling coach in college. He was 30 lbs lighter and 4 inches shorter! chesty

Hey scott/chesty what weight classes you guys wrestle in. I cut down to 197 for one year but couldn't hack it again. I was a walking bone sack most of the time. Cut up good but no real strength. I went heavy weight my Soph year @ 235 and would harrass the guys cutting weight! But then I would get the fuck beat out of me by these 300 pounders so that was pretty much my last year in the sport because I didn't want to get real heavy because then I would have to play interior line again in college and I liked being a Line backer not a lineman. Oh well... ------------------

I hate soccer, but it is the most physically demanding sport and Motor-cross is the seconds most physically demanding sport. This was done by a study back in the early 80s by some College. I believe it is also published in the Guinness book of records. I am not sure how they determined this, but I do know Moto-x takes it out of you when you have to ride a 30minute MOTO.

I'd give HOCKEY the edge over basketball. That is a brutal endurance sport that requires so much freakin' skill. ------------------

Totally agree with All Natural. Rugby is the most physical sport, not to mention the aerobic aspect of it. I took 5 more stitches above the eye this weekend, but I fuckin love it!!

well no has mentioned it and I wouldn't be surprised to get a laugh from a few of yall but what about Triathaletes??I mean you don't have to be SUPER strong but How many people have the Brute strength to swim that far with different water temps, curents whatever, get up run to a exchange spot, grab a bike off the rack while in that transition from the water ride all that far Isn't it like 50-100miles something like that?? then Turn around and get off that bike and run a marthon??I've played Football, baseball, basketball, and was a distance runner in college briefly, some of the guys I have played with or against in various sports are playing in the NFL, NBA, and various minors and Major league baseball and non of them could cut it in my opinion compared to a Triathlete thats just another breed of athletes which is truely in a league of their own. TO me all the other sports have some of the physical, technical, and mental aspects that can be compared to other sports, but I haven't been able to compare any of those to those triathletes must go threw...I tried a mini triathalon with a guy I ran with in highschool who really is more of a triathon then a runner or a swimmer...I was thinking no big deal I am an edurance athlete I can hack it... Wrong, I barely even finished, it was pathetic site. I never could compare that feeling to the feeling of defeat or victory of anything else..... It's a sport where someone is going to win if they have all the physical tools and mental ability combined to make it, not some judge saying that didn't look good enough or saying well that is a penalty for one reason or another. You physically have to destroy your challenger without physically forcing them down as well as being able to get yourself to the finish line. It has rules that seem Clear cut and not much room for interpration

Wrestling, Rugby, Moto-x, Water polo, this next one doesnt exactly involve athletes, but it is an intense competition, its called the Firefighter Combat Challenge, they had a wide reciever from the Falcons due this and he said that it was the most intense thing that he had ever done. Be kind please rewind!

These guys have to go all out for thirty minutes, non stop, taking a beating from the track, all while throwing a two hundred pound bike around, most of these guys dont look like bodybuilders, but they all have very low bodyfat, and their arobic capacities are unreal.

Boxing IMHO. Have to be strong, with stamina and endurance in addition to the fact your opponent is trying to knock your head off. That's alot to deal with. delts ------------------

Hey Wodin, I was in the 190 class. He folded me like a sponge, it went pop and then I wrestled some tag teaam matchs and that was it couldn't wrestle rest of year and decided then to concnetrate on lifting.

Chesty, This is what made me give it up...A 315 POUND MOFO From Boston College basically sat on me for three minutes in my Soph. Year...That did it for me. ------------------

i am a little biased on this one but i think its SOCCER. c'mon we play 90+ plus minutes outside on a hot field that is 100 yards wide by 130 yards long. estimated that we run about 25-35 miles depending on position you play. coordination is there..ever tried soccer? not as easy as it looks...peace ------------------ knowledge = power

I played soccer when I was younger, quit after 2 seasons cause it lacked hitting. Then it became extremely boring cause there is little action, that boredom has turned into an extreme dislike if not a hatred of it. No offense to soccer players. If there is no hitting then the sport isn't "sound". So football, hockey, rugby, and wrestling walk away tied for the belt. Now there are positions and styles in some of those sports where a person does not hit. Example: Football-Place kickers. In my opinion they are just soccer players wearing football uniforms. Hockey- the finesse players, but they get gunned at alot. Props to all who aren't afraid to dish out hits and take them when they come their way.

Txcollegeguy....I do tiathalons....but its mostly endurance...no so much strenght...actually mostly mental.......now the top endurance sport would be the Iron Man. You gotta be in some freakin good mental and cardio health to do that shit. You freaking swim enough to kill a fish, bike enough to travel half the length of florida, then you finish it all up with a tiny little MARATHON!! I had a friend who did this I still don't understand how he did it!!
