The celeron is much cheaper but whats the bigg difference between the pentium and celeron. I wish I knew but do any of you? if you own a celeron how do they work. are they alright or are they junk? I have used all 3 pentiums but was wondering about the celerons. I currently use a P. ------------------

I think a good way to look at it is the celeron is the basic car, no accessories, while the pentium is loaded with extra goodie$.

but it seems as if when I briefly used a celeron it felt like a p2. the clock speed was at 566 and it felt about the same as the p2 of about the same speed. but the p3 are awsome. I got to check out one of those new p3 1ghz comps and it was super fast acting. put a prophet 2 with that and you have an invincible machine. show the amd k6-2 are not bad either. the p3 is a bit more responsive at the same clock speed but its smokes a p2. ------------------

it depends on which pentium processor you are referring to and which celeron processor. If you are referring to the first celeron processor they were basically the same core as the Pentium II but without any L2 cache memory. The newer celerons are based on intel's newer coppermine core and have 128 kb of cache memory vs. the Pentium III which have 256 kb of cache memory. also the celerons run at 66mhz FSB, while the Pentium III's run at 100 or 133 mhz FSB. There is other differences but that's the basics.
