Other than the religion your practicing at the present moment, what religion would be your next choice if you had to choose, I will repeat "if you had to choose" ( dont say some shit like I am happy with my present religion), remember you have to choose, now if your an athiest or you dont believe in any type of religion then treat each religion out there like a fictional story and choose one, so to sum this shit up choose a religion no matter what. Obviously I will go first. I am a Christian, always have been always will be(Christian in the sense of actual true Christianity not the insulting bullshit that is taught today in the majority of the mislead churches of America and abroad)but if I had to choose another religion it would defenitley be Taoism with a few Buddhist and Confucianism principles involved(actually I already incorporate these in my beliefs today) but Taoism is my main choice. ------------------     | ||

Vanguard I was looking for a sincere and serious answer from everyone not a smart ass remark, if you were in my radius I would bitch slap you to the ground, have you ever been bitch slapped to the ground? Its pretty funny to watch and humiliating, all I was asking for was a honest reply but from your previous and present posts I see that is beyond your capabilities. Currently as far as religion and I'm thinking you mean that which we practice daily I am an Ishaya. Meaning a student of christ conscousness, since I practice the Ishaya mantras and meditation on a daily basis. This is a "cousin" of the vedic bhuddism which is the mother of all religious practices including Taoism. Before this I was a devotted Taoist, looking for the "Uncarved Block". I find that the Ishaya practice marries the eastern and western views of Jesus into one. I can say that I have felt, experienced this Oneness, wholeness with the eternal and their is nothing else like it on eath. Nothing can compare to it and no words can truley describe it in a just manner. How is that for sincer havoc? ------------------ | ||

Havoc, Thanks I take that as a compliment. I have broadened this to include bhuddist mantras, such as "Aum nahamni pahdmi hum", which means I am the perfect diamond lotus, etc... The thing is that eventually the words fall away and lose their meaning and you arrive at a oneness in awareness. Really cool stuff, I'll give you an example, yesterday I'm riding the elipitical trainer in the Gym and I close my eyse and start a mantra. I begin to feel the energy around me and then I get this really cool tingle of energy going through me and I open my eyes and this oriental person is walking by smiling. As they pass a cool breeze follows them by me. This is that awareness of other peoples energies that I speak of in the basic "unity conscousness" that can be acheived by clearing the mind. Bhuddist call this the Diamond Lotus. Just thought I would elaborate a little bro. ------------------ | ||

Original Rastafarianism where it includes that you must hate the white race is a turn off and true ignorance, I understand why some would want that to be a part of their religion back in that day. Rastafarianism is basically the old testament with a few redactions and additions. The majority of the youth today only like the Rasta religion because of the herb which is the wrong reason in the first place. Started by Marcus Garvey Rastas believe in Jah Rastafari , Jah being a derivative of Jehovah, they also believe in the Hindu concept of the Avatar, They believe God first revealed himself in Moses then Elijah next Jesus and finally the Climax Sellasie, Marijuana is a holy sacrament with the Rastas and true Rasta are vegetarians and dont smoke tobacco products. ------------------ | ||

I don't practice any religion, and, there is so many religions out there, I wouldn't know where to start. The only thing I know is on my baptismal certificate it says I was baptised in the United church......really, I have no clue about religion......I have heard of Buddhism, Taoism, Zen and stuff......a friend of mine is into Zen....he's tryed to get me into reading up on it becuase he has seen me down and out and thought maybe that would help me....but, I'm hopeless...a lost cause......what is the point of religion anyhow? what do you get out of it? what do people want to get out of it? do people turn to religion in a time of need? if so, is that wrong using religion to help yourself? I have so many quesitons about it.....maybe Hav could enlighten me.....ya know, I'm 32 now, and, I wish I would of found some religion that interested me along time ago.....it might of helped me out at times......speaking of "times" I could use some guidance or soemthing right now.... shit, I hate being serious on here cause you alwyas take that risk of some asshole slamming you.... anyhow...I'm done Hav? | ||

Its never too late for Religion, the word Religion has gotten a bad rap because of all the false interpretations many religions have gone through, Chrisitianity being the main one, these false hoods turn many away and I can totally understand why. What I say to alot of people is if you dont want to have anything to do with a religion then treat whatever religion like a fictional story and follow the good points of the story, this will make you a better person mentally and spiritually. ------------------ | ||

Havokk Truly an interesting question. Really difficult to answer...I am stuck between what religion I would believe in next to my present one, or which one I would like to practice the most. I don't know why sme people choose the religions that they choose...Do they truly believe that objectively there religion is the one that is based on the most Truth? Do they just like the religion and like the practices and beliefs, but have not really looked at it's Truth ? Is objective Truth not a reality so they can choose what they want ? I dont know. If I did have to choose another religion, I would try to base it on what I believe to be true and Truth, and would choose some form of Buddhism. I truly believe that Truth does lie in Right Thought, Right Action, etc. By the way, I am Roman Catholic and have a BA in philosophy and theology. I know that many people hate Roman Catholics and the Church. I would like to add that I have spent my adult life (from 19-31; I am 31 now) in Social Work, having lived in Detroit, St. Louis, Staten Island and South Korea...always working with young people and trying to give of my life so that others may have a better quality of life...to me that is what my religion is about...I think Mother Teresa is the greatest example of Roman Catholicism...she was a nun, cing Roman Catholic and her religion and religious conviction caused her to ive her life to God and humanity...sorry for the soapbox. So many people think that they can pick and choose a faith that only gives them sweetness and light. A religion is like family: you take the good with the bad. Most often, as you mature, you see reasons for things that eluded you previously. A religion that blows sunshine up your ass isn't doing you any favors or helping you to grow beyond your current state. | ||
