Yesterday I was doing deadlifts, I always strive for perfect form, but for some reason I screwed up and I rounded my back just a little...POP! It felt like the kind of pop you feel when you hang from a bar or something, but it also hurt. Now my back is pretty soar just below my spine, to the right. I've had this happen once before in the same place and it was better in about a week, but I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to speed recovery.

I am currently:
-Taking vitamin C
-Antiinflammatories ie. ibuprofen
-Icing It
-Rub on Icy/Hot shit

I bascially cannot bend over, nor can sit in one place for very long before it starts to ache.

I have definitely learned my lesson here. I DO NOT want back pain for the rest of my life. I will wear a lifting belt for deads from now on and do other, safer exercises to strenghten my lower back.

stretch as much as possible...and stay out of the gym until it's fully healed...your lower back helps stabalize in so many exercises that you will probably strain it again if you head back too soon...keep poppin the pills and hot baths or hot tubs work well for me...but most importantly rest rest rest

dude I had the same thing happen to me 3 years ago and it still hurts somedays. the best thing you can do is stretch those hamstrings!! If it is bad enough go to the physical therapist and get some electric stim and ultrasound on it, that always does the trick.

frackal- the truth is you may be somewhat fucked for life....whatever you do, let it heal completely before hitting the gym again...this can be over two weeks my man...then stretch often and deeply....but please let that bad boy heal first...

Bucky's right....
If you can get a hold of some Anaprox. It worked for me too. A good massage helps too.
Let it heal dude!
