You know after reading much on what has gone on in the past couple of days and reflecting on what everyone has said, ranging from dread, to Chesty, to Matt, and others....it really had me thinking about things concerning those people with different needs than our own. Now examining this from a purely logical point of veiw, I can see (not agree) to some degree of what dread is saying...HOWEVER..in the big picture, we need people like this in our society, and lives for many reasons. To often in life I think we all tend to lose sight of things that are important to us, and in that confusion we can become rather cold, unthankful creatures. When as humans, it is evident and proven time and time again that we need others. We need nurturing, love, compassion, and caring..as well as the ability to convey this to others. I mean the assistance I did with coaching in the special olympics reminded me on a daily basis of how lucky I am to even be able to walk straight, to hell with me worrying day in and day out how to get my bench press up. I mean it was the ability for me to help others that couldnt help themselves that made me want to strive to make my world, and myself a better place, and person. Now tell me how that doesnt further, and aid society. I think when we as humans put forth effort on our own to help others that dont have the "luxuries" in life that we do, such as being able to complete a sentence, we in turn better ourselves and those around us, and in my opinion when more people realize the rewards to be had in that quest, then perhaps our society will one day be greater and stonger than we ever could imagine.
