Where did these games begin? With the greeks as contest of skill. Skills that could be applied to battle, skills that were designed to give you an edge over your enemy.

I can see where Track and Field events, the heart and sole of olympic sports should be in the games, I can see where wrestling and swimming events should be in the games, I can see where weight lifting events should be in the games, I can see where gymnastics should be in the games and the triatholon, the marathon, Boxing, Judo and Taekwondo. All of these are test of the skill and power of the human body in their purest form.

To me these sporst are the heart and sole of true olympic competitions. Now here is the rest of the crap that the IOC has allowed into the games for nothing more than cash.
Listed based on what I call the whimp scale, from least to most wimpiest sport.

Basketball
Soccer
Cycling Tennis
Synchornized Swimming
Field Hockey
Handball
Modern Pentathlon
Rowing
Waterpolo
Archery
Fencing
Shooting
Sailing
Tabel Tennis
Volleyball
Baseball
Softball
Equestrian

These are spectator sporst at best, none of these are true test of individual skill and should be booted from the games, especially soft ball, what does the guy/girl who chugs the most beer while field a grounder get a gold medal. This is rediculas!! Plus a guy I work with he and his wife are into ball room dancing and they're petitioning to be allowed into the olympics as a sport. This is not a sport, this is a hobby! Plus synchronized swimming is the biggest joke in modern sports competition, do we need to add the people who dance around to the samba in the "sports" venue.

Please people do something about this insanity that has become the modern olympic games. DONT WATCH!!!!

EVERYONE on this board is pretty much a cool mofo so if I disagree with you please dont take it personally. I totally disagree with you, every sport is there for a reason, each individual represents the elite of his or her sport or whatever you want to call it. The olympics are going to continue to grow as far as the increase of events are concerned. How about you give each of those sports or events a try, you will see how much skill, focus and discipline each takes.

I disagree also, I went to Atlanta and saw Table tennis, Judo, Baseball, and Badmitten just to name a few, they were all fun to watch but badmitten was by far the most fun to watch, I see you left that off your list, I guess you like wathcing it also, lol.

DAMN! I forgot Badmitten! Shit ban that from the olympics too. Anything invented in England is not a sport! It's a social event with people trying to pretend to sweat! They don't even need to use performance enhancing drugs in badmitten. I can see the injury reports now...wacked by a birdy in left arm, unable to perform. hehehe
